Reviews

I have been a home school mom for over 15 years. I presently have children ages 20 to newborn. I have come across many resources in my days from children’s products to home use to home schooling, both good and bad. I have been reviewing products for companies like The Old Schoolhouse, Tropical Traditions and the like since 2007.

I give honest reviews, based on my experiences with the products, the company, and anything that will give insight as to what I review. Sometimes I will not recommend a product or the company representing that product, because I do not feel it is right to just share the recommended ones we liked with you.  Certainly, if someone I respected had experience with a resource already, I would want her opinion of them, good or bad. In addition, some resources, we have had direct and personal dealings with the authors or publishers and our recommendations are based on those experiences.

I have not gone into detail on the ones that I do not recommend. If you are interested in the resource, but are concerned that you might make a bad purchase, you are welcome to contact me about it via the Contact Me page.

If you are a company representative looking for a review of your products, I would be happy to consider reviewing your product on one of our websites. Please contact me for my fee. A review does require a product to sample and review, and another product to give away on my site as a promotion for your product and my website. If you would like me to consider reviewing one of your products, please email me with a list of products to choose from for review. Thank you~

Most of these we – meaning Mom and the home schooled children – will highly recommend to you! Enjoy!

HOMESCHOOL MOM

TEACHER RESOURCES

Senior High: A Home-Designed Form+U+La by Barb Shelton

**HIGHLY RECOMMENDED**

Senior High Home Designed FormulaAs a home school mom with two in high school, I felt a bit overwhelmed in organizing all of the official high school records and crediting classes that are necessary to fill the state’s requirements. The book opens up with a formula for formulating a high school plan. Barb’s view on homeschool freedom is distinctly tied to her faith and freedom in her God. It then moves on to creating classes and requirements out of your own personal homeschool. It not only shows you how to count your own activity for high school credit, but it gives you samples, lists and pre-made forms for your own use in your homeschool.

Homeschooler’s Book of Lists

**HIGHLY RECOMMENDED**

I love this book! It is is diverse enough that it is a great fit for each of these categories regardless of ages or homeschool method. It will be a very good supplement to the homeschool mom’s resource shelf. The lists Sonya has used cover so much. And, though the cover says that it is for elementary-ages, I feel it is a great resource for every age.

MODESTY AND PURITY RESOURCES

Generations of Virtue: Setting a Paradigm for Purity

Setting A Paradigm for Purity

by Julie Hiramine
Review of DVD set: at Training Daughters Teaching Wives

This is excellent material. This DVD is a great resource for parents of children at any age. It is broken down into age groups and the different stages of understanding, making it easy to apply the lessons when your children are very young.

I love Julie’s approach to teaching purity. It is not a dry approach, but an interactive one. She admonishes parents to be discerning Gatekeepers in their children’s lives and to teach purity and modesty daily as they walk and talk with their children. Society focuses on academics, but God wants us to have a vision for our children’s character.

Revolutionary War Period Cookery by Robert W. Pelton **LOVED THIS!**
Infinity Publishing http://www.buybooksontheweb.com

You can read my Review at States And Countries Exploration:

“Personally, I couldn’t put this book down. I found myself reading the names of the recipes out loud and the biographical sketches non-stop to our children. They were just so interesting to read, and we all wanted to know what recipe was each person’s favorite! When you are talking about recipes like “Pigeon Soup as Enjoyed by Thomas Jefferson,” “Tongue Casserole as Enjoyed by General John Sullivan,” and “Raccoon Pot Pie as Enjoyed by Philip Livingston,” you can’t help but be interested.

An Arizona Ranger & Other Stories by Kriste Lighthill **NOT RECOMMENDED*
Scott Eash Multimedia www.scotteashmedia.com

I read this book and chose not to write a review of it for the following reasons: There are quite a few references to drinking, saloons, hard liquor. There are also several instances where the thoughts of men or women are read as almost a romance, in a leading manner to the senses.

I did not feel it is appropriate reading for a child of any age, as the “lessons” are not worth the negative material in it.

Hear, O Yisra’ĕl: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one!
and you are to love YHVH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding, and with all your strength.' 6 These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart; 7 and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
{Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Mark 12:28-30}

Welcome

Welcome to my online home, Walking Therein. I am a 40-something wife and Momma, trying to walk therein, squeezing in moments of Scripture reading, praise and worship and just quiet between the breastfeeding, child training, cooking, cleaning, child training, laundry, home school, child training, online ministries, and spending individual moments with hubby, adult children, Middles, Littles, and the infant.
Tis the life the Father gave me, and I am blessed to walk in it.
Did I mention the child training?

"Who am I? Nobody special; just a flawed wife and mom, daughter, sister, and friend chosen by YHVH to follow and tell about him."

I am a Believer in the one true God and the Messiah, his Son, whose name is Yehoshua. We keep his commandments because that is what his people do.
"...God's people, those who observe his commands and exercise Yehoshua's faithfulness."
Revelation 12, 14, 22

Jacque Mrs. Jacque Dixon and her husband, Matt are busy preparing and training their nine children up in YHVH's narrow way. We are currently living and home schooling in Costa Rica, sharing our love of Torah online. Walking Therein is where Jacque writes encouraging articles of faith, home schooling and the daily adventures of the Dixon family, with a mix of news and reviews also thrown in from time to time.
