Simple Woman’s Daybook

FOR TODAY, February 8, 2010… from Jacque’s Daybook

Outside my window… The Winter is just not going away yet. I will be posting snow, snow, snow as long as we are here.

I am thinking… about the warmer weather that will be wherever we will be going.

I am thankful for… knowing that I can’t add to his plan and I can’t take away, but that he is doing the working in our lives at this time.

From the Learning Rooms … This part is honestly hard for me. It’s either regular boring old way of learning, like math and grammar workbooks or it is too hard to define as they experience it through reading, cooking, cleaning, helping, applications in the home…
*Littles: Nothing but life. I need to make a new plan for them to have some worksheets.
*Middles: Religious studies: Life applications in Judaism and different sects of Jews. The usual life application math and science. Planning and application of plans.
*Older: Religious studies: Lifeapplications in Judaism and different sects of Jews. Planning and application of plans.

From the kitchen… We already got to eat the last of Rachel’s homemade pretzels. I am trying to find out what she has planned for dinner.

I am wearing… Sage green short sleeve top with a gardening picture on it that says “Stress Relief”, black long skirt, black short socks, and my brown shoes.

I am creating… index cards with individual To Do lists for the Littles. The older children are making their own lists that we are going to meet and discuss.

I am going… to be home. All day, all night.

I am currently reading… blog articles on the Talmud/Mishnah, the Halaka, the Amidah, etc. I started looking up the difference between the Polish and Israeli Jews, because my Great-Great-Grandfather was a Jew who came over from Poland. Matt spoke to the Israeli Embassy today in Chicago, and the gentleman he spoke with mentioned the difference, so as a good home school mom, I decided it was good for history study.  : )

I am hoping… the weather will get up to about 60′ and we will be able to have a garage sale next week and sell all of the stuff we will not be moving. Yes, I am hoping BIG.

I am hearing…. Hannah, Caleb and Isaac playing Uno with Phase 10 cards and Matt cutting drywall and screwing it onto the wall.

On my mind…. How long will it take us to leave, and will our home be sold before we go?

Noticing that… Samuel must be going through his 3 month growth spurt, because he is sleeping a lot today.

Around the house… doing last-minute things as long as we are here.

One of my favorite things… an accomplished day that ends with putting our Littles to bed and a nice hot cup of mint tea, served in a real tea cup.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Getting rid of all that I can. I have clothes to give to a family on FreeCycle, some clothes and sheets to send to MaggieRaye so she can make her quilts from, many books that won’t sell that I am going to have to give away, and anything that I can find a consignment shop for.

That is a *very* sweet picture! And that is funny that they were playing Uno with Phase 10 cards, because we play Skip Bo with Phase 10 cards : D

I know this is very selfish of me, but I’m glad you aren’t gone yet! It was SO much fun to visit with your girls last Saturday, and I am very much looking forward to this next Friday!!!!

Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog! The reason that I did the SWD was because I so love reading YOURS! My favorite thing about your family is how much you are a team, all working together to make life run smoothly. I pray that my children will grow to be as close as yours seem to be.

I would love to hear more about your homeschooling. I notice that a lot of the veteran hs mom’s don’t talk about curriculum (probably tired of the topic, right? ha ha), but I would just love to know what your days generally look like. Are you one-on-one with each child regularly or do they only come to you with questions? I know that you are in a different season in life right now, so the book work probably isn’t high on the priority list.

    God bless your week, Jacque!

Hear, O Yisra’ĕl: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one!
and you are to love YHVH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding, and with all your strength.'

Welcome

Hello friends and welcome! The coffee is fresh, the tea is hot, so pull up a comfy chair and sit with me for a bit.

Who am I? Nobody special; just a flawed wife and mom, daughter, sister, and friend chosen by YHVH to follow and tell about him.

Jacque Mrs. Jacque Dixon and her husband, Matt, train their nine children up in YHVH's narrow way, home schooling on their small homestead in Indiana. She is co-owner and Manager of Gleaning the Harvest, a mission founded by the Dixons, presenting widowed/single mother home school families to YHVH's people. She is also owner and publisher of Training Sons to Be Men, and Training Daughters, Teaching Wives. Walking Therein is where Jacque writes encouraging home school articles, articles of faith, and the daily lives of the Dixon family.
