Friday Preparation

Posted By Jacque on December 25, 2009

It’s 10am. I have a sleeping babe on my lap, and I have my Playlist playing. Funny how such a small thing can be a big blessing… but, we use it frequently during the day and at night, then, too, to play something while the Littles are getting ready and going to bed for the evening

Despite the holiday, Matt went in to deliver packages for a few hours, and then we get to have him home. Yes, the Post Office delivers packages on Christmas Day!

Amanda and Jocelyn are still in bed – though I hear them rousing; Rachel held Samuel for a bit and is now making the Challah; Eric is getting ready to go to the barn; Hannah is probably going with him.
Isaac has written all of our names and is cutting them out. Caleb just came out here and climbed onto the couch to snuggle under a blanket, and LucyLillie I hear moving around in Jocelyn’s bed…

Today, I have to hem Rachel’s skirt, and I hope to get a few other things done that have been waiting for months to be fixed…

In addition to that, we will be cleaning the house up today for Shabbat celebration tonight.

Have a fantastic day! Be blessed~

About 2 months ago we had your playlist playing over and over again as I was trying to get a big tangle out of our youngest daughter’s hair! That probably sounds weird to you but it just worked out that she came in to our office as I was reading your blog.

Your song selection was so pretty and you had that song He Is that I wanted her to hear, so I got to work as those songs played. (It helped keep her calm and distracted as well!)

    Thanks for sharing them!

Can you blog more about how you honor the Sabbath? I would like to do this with my family and have tried several times but I also have 9 children and I am overwhelmed with the maddness a day of no work brings. I also dont understand what is acceptable to do and not.

    Jessi~
I am working on a post on our Shabbat Preparations and meal, and then will write up one about the Shabbat day.
It bugs me too sometimes that there is so much to do, and I feel like I am sitting around while it just sits there. That is, I used to feel that way. The point is, I feel it is a commandment of the Most High Elohim-God, and he gave this day of rest to us for our good. HE himself rested after his day, and we need to too.

He blesses us in it too, which makes it a joy, and soon all that is pressing becomes of less importance of honouring the Shabbat and Yahveh in honouring Shabbat. It can be a day that much is accomplished within our families of learning and discussing Scripture and teaching our children that Yahveh is truly more important than all of the other things that we usually place in front of him and his plans.

May he bless and keep you in this, and may he give you his mind on it.

    He did work on Christmas.
I really need to find more time to blog about our family… even if it is just a little blurb.
    I just don’t take the time… :(

    Thanks for the encouragement!
