Yahveh’s Sense of Humour

Posted By Jacque on December 19, 2009

I have always hated that phrase “God has such a sense of humour”. I don’t believe he does anything just for fun; I believe all he does has a purpose. Though I know he delights in his creation and people, and I know he does things in ways that tickle us and give us joy or turn out in a way that is unexpected to us, I don’t believe that our definition of fun would match his purpose in delighting. I believe it is all for a purpose, even when the enemy, satan, or human beings work things in a way that they expect evil or problems.

Saturday Psalm & Praise

Psalm 66
16 Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for me. 17 I cried out to him with my mouth, his praise was on my tongue. 18 Had I cherished evil thoughts, Adonai would not have listened. 19 But in fact, (Yahveh)God did listen; he paid attention to my prayer. 20 Blessed be (Yahveh)God, who did not reject my prayer or turn his grace away from me.

I found out last night the feeling of the “sense of humour” of our great Elohim. As you know, we have had issues in the past few years with people who have issues with our family, online and IRL. What can I say? We have always been a controversial family in Believers’ circles. We don’t adhere to church doctrines that do not line up with Scripture, we continually seek Scriptures, and when we find we are wrong, we do our best to seek and pray and change whatever it takes to what we need to do to live the Scriptures and not just make excuses. I know many Believers who do this also, but many more who do not. Those who do not make life hard for those who do. They call them legalists, hypocrites, false prophets, wolves in sheep’s clothing and other niceties that we just let roll off of our backs anymore. Anyway, our not doing things because they are wrong is offensive to many who claim to be Christians, etc. etc.

I truly have forgiven people who have and still are tormenting our family and me specifically, and I desire a reconciliation with these people. As soon as there are no hoops to jump through, I believe that will be a possibility. I am praying that is soon. In the past few days, we have invited some old friends over to say some good-byes to their families as we plan to leave in the near future and don’t want to not get to do that. In the course of thinking about this, I thought how nice it would be to make all the amends needed with other families. I am still praying for this.

Then, last night, I received and email that made me laugh out loud and chuckle for a good time afterward.

Jocelyn has received two packages in the past several weeks that have her name, our address, and no info with them. We do get items from all over the world frequently, so the only thing that was weird about that was that it had no explanation with it. One was a book about fairies that we obviously will not read, and I thought she threw into the burn trash; the other was a pair of tennis shoes that were two sizes too big, but fit Rachel and me.  It was weird.

James 5
15 The prayer offered with trust will heal the one who is ill – the Lord will restore his health; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, openly acknowledge your sins to one another, and pray for each other, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Fast-forward to last night. I received an email titled, “Ladies Gym Shoes”. It was from an email that I recognized the name, and knew it had to be a fluke that the name was the same as someone who is no longer speaking to our family. No. It was from her husband. Seems that there was an error on their Ebay account, and it kicked our address up to the seller from a time they had shipped something to Jocelyn, in her name. They requested we send them their shoes.

I roared.

Not at their misfortune, but at how this had worked into our lives. I had just prayed the day before about and for this family. What are the chances? I mean really.

Was this evidence of a sense of humour of Yahweh? No, I don’t think so. I think this is his hand, definitely, but I think he will do all he has to do for his people to come to repentance and walk in his ways.

I do not know what will come of this. I emailed and told them I would be delighted to send them the shoes, and we need to figure out shipping. I may or may not hear back, but I am praising Yahweh today for his mighty hand. I am thanking him that he still hears me when I call upon him.

Proverbs 15
8 ADONAI detests the sacrifices of the wicked but delights in the prayers of the upright. 9 ADONAI detests the way of the wicked but loves anyone who pursues righteousness.

I am thankful and believing that his higher ways will win in our lives. May he be praised and blessed forever!

EDIT: Praising Yahveh that I heard back from them, and I will be sending them the shoes this week. :)

I thought about naming this “The Christmas Shoes”, but that would be my sense of humour…

be blessed today and Shabbat Shalom~

Oh, HOW he does work! Well, I pray this all works out for His glory. :-)

One time, I was looking for my dh and kids and walked into the gym at the YMCA and stood almost face to face with a TO lady that disfellowshipped me (it was really painful what happened). Anyways, I stood there looking at her expectantly (I was expecting my husband!). I smiled, turned a 180 (we are not on speaking terms) and wondered “WHAT was that for?” Only He will know. :-)

Awww! This is wonderful. Wow. how amazing God is… really. Things like
this have happened in my life as well.

Pray for me as my mother defiantly tries to teach my children there is a Santa Claus.

I tried to lovingly explain to her how damaging her lies to me about about a “Santa Claus”
were to me as a child. But she would hear none of it …. handed me some thing off the
internet that was a story of Santa Claus and how we should “believe”.

The only thing I want my children believing in is Christ and His birth as the true reason
    for the season.

Our little church is varied with its beliefs…. but God has put another children’s teacher
in my class with me who also home schools and does not teach her children about
Santa Claus either. Together we have already changed some hearts and minds of
other parents who were falling into the world’s ways of celebrating Christmas. But we
are enduring a little persecution….. but I will stand firm with this lady God has put in my
life. Thank God her husband use to pastor a church and is also strongly teaching the
word in our Sunday school class.

False believers will always abound in church…. but those of us who do believe must
not run from our duties to boldly proclaim the Truth of the scriptures.

  8. Isnt that so like the LORD, though.. everything in HIS timing…

I have been struggling greatly this Christmas Season… mainly for the factor that its so commercialized even though we are a EXTREMELY low key Christmas kinda family, I cant help but feel very sad for those even Christians that are wrapped up in the Santa Claus bit… We told our kids several years ago because it was plaguing my heart of the falsehood and how badly I want my kids to walk, speak and think in Truth

It IS so like him. We are SO blessed of Yahveh. I can’t tell you!

And, yes, I understand. We don’t celebrate any of the holidays that are not specifically in the Scriptures. We no longer celebrate Christmas or Easter. They do not belong to Yahveh, and we do, so we celebrate the Feasts HE gave us instead. :)
For us, this is walking, speaking and thinking in truth. May you be blessed and have HIS Shalom Jeannie. It’s good to hear from you. :)
