Who Is Under the Curse?

Posted By Jacque on December 13, 2009

With the way America as a nation has been going for the past twenty, well, ok, fifty, years, it is no wonder that organizations and websites have turned up the calling for an awakening of this country to its Godly heritage.

I do believe a lot needs to change in this nation, and it must start with Believers, but I believe we are going about it all wrong. In addition to that, I believe we do not understand that the End Times must come. They must. It is already a plan in action, and there will come a time (and I believe we are in it) that we must watch the evil take over. It is all prophesied and must happen in order for all other things that must take place before Yeshua returns to Mount Tziyon with his people to happen. It is not something we can stay the hand of Yahweh in. It must happen. What we must do is to pray and seek what our place is in it and how will we live through it. (Matt. 24)

I do not believe we should focus on praying our nation out of its present state. Please do not misunderstand me here. I do believe we should continue to pray for our nation. I believe we should pray for every nation. I believe we should pray for leaders, Believers, unbelievers… I believe prayer changes things. However, there are some important factors that the Christian faith leaves out when we quote verses like a favourite of mine.

2 Chronicles 7:13-14
“13 If I shut up the sky, so that there is no rain; or if I order locusts to devour the land; or if I send an epidemic of sickness among my people; 14 then, if my people, who bear my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face and turn from their evil ways, I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land.”

As Christians, we think we have been taught all we need to know to be his people. Have you ever questioned, Who are those who “bear his name” according to the Scriptures? Many, many people today call themselves Christians. Do they all “bear his name”? What sets them apart to him? The way they talk? They way they look? Because they once prayed a prayer, asking for Jesus to live in their hearts? Remember, this is Yahweh talking here, not Jesus. We are talking about HIS name.

What are the “evil ways”?Is it what we do? What we say? What we wear? Is it the music we listen to or the movies we watch? Is it breaking one of the Ten Commandments or are we missing something there? We have got to understand this. There are SO MANY definitions of “evil ways” in Christianity today, how do we know what that means? How do we know who “bears his name” and is a true follower?

How do we know what anything Yahweh-God describes means?? How?

The answer to that is simple: By looking at HIS OWN WORDS. We cannot live by the social-relativism and rules and definitions of today. Not even those in the local Christian churches! There are too many variations! We absolutely MUST look at the Scriptures. And I do mean the Old Testament Scriptures that precede Yeshua-Jesus. Why? Do I believe the New Testament isn’t good enough? No. We must look at the Old Testament, what Yeshua-Jesus called the Tanakh, because THOSE are the ones he followed and set his holy and set apart living by. He said to do as HE DID, so we must look at the commandments he set his life by and walked in.

By reading the passages of Scripture below, we read as Yahweh speaks to his people, over and over, he says this in one form or another:

“‘But if you will (not) listen to me and obey all these mitzvot(commandments), 15 if you (loathe) my regulations and (reject) my rulings, in order (not) to obey all my mitzvot(commandments) but cancel my covenant(by not obeying the commandments);

Deuteronomy 6 says:

1 “Now this is the mitzvah(commandment), the laws and rulings which ADONAI your God ordered me to teach you for you to obey in the land you are crossing over to possess, 2 so that you will fear ADONAI your God and observe all his regulations and mitzvot that I am giving you – you, your child and your grandchild - as long as you live, and so that you will have long life. 3 Therefore listen, Isra’el, and take care to obey, so that things will go well with you, and so that you will increase greatly…

Notice we are talking about what Yahweh-God said about HIS commandments. Notice he said ALL. Because of this, we can find the answers to our questions:

Those who bear his name: Those who follow all of YAHWEH’s commands.
Note that there is a difference between the commandments given in the Tanakh-Old Testament and those given in the New. The ones in the NT are incomplete. Yeshua explained the essence of the commandments, but did not address each and every commandment. Those he spoke of are all commanded in the OT, so they must be looked at in the light of their foundational commandments, given by Yahweh.

Evil ways: Those things which go against the commandments given by Yahweh-God, the One True God.
This must include all of the commandments, because if we just pick out our Ten favourite ones we follow, then we get into the issues and discussions of the social-relativism of today: When does life begin? Does marriage REALLY mean a man and a woman? Does Twilight go against Scripture? And on and on. We must go back to the Scriptures Yeshua is speaking of when he quotes them and tells us to walk in them.

When we apply this to the 2 Chronicles verse, it becomes a very different people he is speaking to than just those who attend a regular Sunday service and pray and abstain from certain things in their walk. Look at it again, with the definitions of Those who bear My Name and “evil ways” properly defined:

2 Chronicles 7:13-14
“13 If I shut up the sky, so that there is no rain; or if I order locusts to devour the land; or if I send an epidemic of sickness among my people; 14 then, if my people,
Those who follow all of YAHWEH’s commands, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face and turn from Those things which go against the commandments given by Yahweh-God, the One True God, I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land.”

THIS is a much narrower definition of what a True Follower is. This is not the wide path that many will go through. This definition is a narrow path, only followed by very few who claim to know Yahweh. The question we must ask as Christians is this: Are we on this path or the wide one?

Let’s walk in the narrow path of Yeshua, the Messiah, who walked in the Narrow and set apart ways of His Elohim, by following Torah commandments~

Shabbat Shalom my friends~

Wonderful post Mrs. Dixon! We need to accept that what is prophesized to occur cannot be prayed away.

Blessings and shalom in Yahshua’s name!

  2. Yes, all of humankind are obligated to follow the mitzwot in Torah. So the question is if NT is consistent with Torah or not.
I want to analayze the view of atonement according to Christianity.

(le-havdil) How to live in order to enable the Creator in His loving kindness to provide His foregivness is outlined in the Jewish Bible ; and was also taught by the first century Ribi Yehoshua from Nazareth (the Mashiakh; the Messiah).

The Jewish Bible – for example Yekhëzqeil (Hezekiel) 18 – promises foregivness to those who do their sincerest to keep Torah. The Creator cannot lie and He does not change (Malakhi 3:6)! According to Tehilim (“Psalms”) 103 the Creator gives his foregivness to those who do their sincerest to keep His berit (“covenant”; the pre-conditions to be included in the berit is according to the Jewish Bible to do ones sincerest to keep Torah).

The view in NT contradicts the Torah-view.

    All the best!

Welcome

Hello friends and welcome! The coffee is fresh, the tea is hot, so pull up a comfy chair and sit with me for a bit.

Who am I? Nobody special; just a flawed wife and mom, daughter, sister, and friend chosen by YHVH to follow and tell about him.

Jacque Mrs. Jacque Dixon and her husband, Matt, train their nine children up in YHVH's narrow way, home schooling on their small homestead in Indiana. She is co-owner and Manager of Gleaning the Harvest, a mission founded by the Dixons, presenting widowed/single mother home school families to YHVH's people. She is also owner and publisher of Training Sons to Be Men, and Training Daughters, Teaching Wives.
