Giving: Cleaning Out Your Closets?
Posted By Jacque on December 6, 2009
I wrote about cleaning out our closets, ridding our household of so much stuff, and having so many clothes to get rid of a couple of days ago. I want to let you know what I am doing with some of it. We have trash bags full of clothes to give away. I am talking something like 25-30 at least. I don’t usually put our clothing up for sale, because, frankly, it is too much work for what you get from the sale of it. That’s been my experience; yours may have been different. We have just found that it is easier to give them away. We have been so blessed by friends over the past ten years, giving us clothing. We have been so blessed to have clothing that has lasted us ten and twenty years!
In addition to the 20 or 30 we have to get rid of, we have another ten or so to get rid of, but those I am giving away in another manner. I am sending to a friend who makes handmade patchwork quilts. MaggieRaye, the founder of Single Parent Homeschool, and owner of the Patchwork Cottage Shoppe is currently accepting donations of used clothing and household linens to complete this project. If you would like to donate fabrics, she’d love to recycle your cottons, especially summer-y or children’s prints for this project. Here is what she is looking for:
jeans,
cotton pants,
blouses,
flannel sheets,
regular sheets,
old blankets,
etc.
She does ask that you not send stretchy fabrics please. So, if it’s time to clean out your closets for the change of season, here is a great opportunity to recycle some of these items. If you are interested in giving, please leave a comment HERE: Home Business Spotlight: The Patchwork Cottage Shoppe , and we will get MaggieRaye your message and email address.
Believe me when I say that it has been hard – really hard- to let go of some of the clothes I have had since Amanda, Jocelyn and Rachel were babies. Twenty years of “favourites”. And what about all of those blankets? And linens – send her those too!
