Rest, Sweet Rest

Posted By Jacque on November 21, 2009

For most moms of new babes, rest alludes them. It has me. I have been so thankful for the rest we have had lately, in-between losing two Grandfathers, their funerals, Samuel’s birth, pitching and purging and of course, as my Twitter and FaceBook followers know… the BLOG AWARDS. :) {have you VOTED? It ends TONIGHT at Midnight!}

Saturday Psalm & PraiseHowever, I really have found rest in the great Elohim – that means God. I love that word though, Elohim.

Rest. We are to rest in Him. We are to lay our burdens down at his feet. We are to rest in him and not be weary. We are not to stress. I have found when we are earnestly seeking him and his narrow way, he will give us just what we need. He is so much more faithful than we are in all things.

And he provides the rest.

Exodus 33:14
He answered, “Set your mind at rest – my presence will go with you, after all.”

Deuteronomy 12:10
But when you cross the Yarden and live in the land ADONAI your God is having you inherit, and he gives you rest from all your surrounding enemies, so that you are living in safety;

2 Corinthians 7:5-6
5 For indeed when we came into Macedonia, our bodies had no rest. On the contrary, we faced all kinds of troubles – altercations without, apprehensions within. 6 But God, who encourages the downhearted, encouraged us with the arrival of Titus!

Thank you Abba Father!

Rest does not always mean sleep – or even quiet. Sometimes we are in the middle of chaos and still have rest and a peace that is not at quiet times. That is his way. It is not something that makes sense, but it is him and it is a restful blessing all the same. I know we have had so much going on and so much behind-the-scenes that we don’t even scratch the surface on in our blogs or on Twitter and FaceBook, and this has been such a busy – no rest – type of year. And yet, we have grown closer to our great Elohim this year moreso than any other year. Oh, and the blessing of Samuel…ahhh… I can sit in the middle of it all and get lost in him.

Yahweh is good. And after all, he loves me like I love this little guy!

Blessings to you! And as the Sabbath comes to a close in an hour… Shabbat Shalom!!

  6. Awwwww, how totally precious. I use to tell my children that when a baby smiles, it means that Jesus is whispering……”I Love You” in the baby’s ear. I know that there’s no scripture for that, but it made my children smile to think that Jesus was talking to the baby. :–)

  7. This is SO true Jacque. It has been stressful here too, but since I have given it all to HIM, I am amazed at how much more relaxed I am. I do not worry nearly as much as I used to. And other people have noticed it and asked what I am doing differently. I smile and say “God!” It isn’t always met with good feelings, but I am not here to please people or the world. I am here because He put me here. He has a plan.

    I love those little grins new babies get. Makes you wonder what they are thinking lol.

    Blessings!

Hear, O Yisra’ĕl: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one!
{Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Mark 12:28-30}

Welcome

Hello friends and welcome! The coffee is fresh, the tea is hot, so pull up a comfy chair and sit with me for a bit.

Who am I? Nobody special; just a flawed wife and mom, daughter, sister, and friend chosen by Yahveh to follow and tell about him.

Jacque Mrs. Jacque Dixon and her husband, Matt, train their nine children up in Yahveh's narrow way, home schooling on their small homestead in Indiana. She is co-owner and Manager of Gleaning the Harvest, a mission founded by the Dixons, presenting widowed/single mother home school families to Yahweh's people. She is also owner and publisher of Training Sons to Be Men, and Training Daughters, Teaching Wives. Walking Therein is where Jacque writes encouraging home school articles, articles of faith, and the daily lives of the Dixon family.
