My New Little Guy

What can I say? I wanted to be a bit selfish with my newest little guy. I wanted to savour my time with him… so, it has taken me a bit to get up some photos. I know, you are waiting to see the photos… or did you already scroll down? Alright, alright, here you go… but be sure to read what I write too, ok?
Oh, you probably want the details now too, huh?
He is baby #9; boy #4. He was just under 7 pounds and 20-ish” long. He looked completely bald when he came out, but you can see he has some BLONDE! hair! Wow. We just discovered this this afternoon, and it was pretty funny since his ‘baldness’ has been a birth topic! LOVE his blond hair!
We named him Samuel. His Daddy picked out only one name, and it was a boy’s. I was surprised he was a boy on that basis alone! I am a stickler for name meanings, and Samuel means “asked for by Yah-God”. Another meaning, which is actually the meaning that turned my heart to accept the name is “Told by Yah”. I picked the middle name, because it is a family name of two grandfathers, one of whom recently passed away. We went to Grandpa Hill’s house to visit him with all of our children in June 2008, and we so wished we could have gone again to see him! So, what is his middle name? Ira. Pronounced EE-ruh in Hebrew, which is interesting.
Both Samuel and Ira were a part of King David’s life. Samuel, as you probably know, was the Prophet who anointed him King. Ira was King David’s Cohen, which is a priest. Ira means “watchful”. In Aramaic it means “fleeing swiftly”. All four of these name definitions have played such a profound part in our learning in the past year that I knew this was his name. When I realized these things, I had a feeling that despite the 150 heart rate, it was likely a boy! I still didn’t believe it though, until he came was born.
I have been enjoying watching my husband play with the Littles for the past 3 days he has been home. I am feeling much better today and sooooo enjoying looking into these sweet little eyes and snuggling up to his sweet little face, breathing in the new baby smell and praying for my new little love. I have been enjoying how my Littles and my Bigs too! -haha- all fawn over him and just want to see him, reach out and touch him, make him feel safe. It is time more precious than I can put into words.
I hope I can get a glimpse of the birth story written up soon. It was sooooo different from all the others; isn’t that strange how that goes?

Yeah, I can tell that already. LOL I love his name! I was telling Amanda that we chose Samuel for our youngest because of its meaning. We had lost a baby prior to him and I asked God for another little one…he heard. Ira is the name of my great-grandfather, (a precious godly man) so it’s special to me as well. Congratulations! The birth of our ninth was also very different from the other births. Nicholas was injured (broken right arm and paralyzed left arm), but God is so gracious and good. Praise the Lord for the safe arrival of your newest blessing.

Hi Jacque, I know I’m late in offering my congratulations, but it’s difficult to find extra time to get online right now. Congratulations to you and your family! Your precious Samuel is beautiful. I’m so happy for you and your family. The Lord has blessed us with a new little baby boy too. Braedyn was born on November 16th. His adoption (private domestic) will be final shortly.
If I remember we have two other children that are very close in age!
