How Am I Doing?
Posted By Jacque on October 15, 2009
I know I have a post around here somewhere about how I am doing… too bad I am too tired to locate it! ![]()
Anyway, I am supposed to have another appointment sometime, but can’t make one right now. My wonderful midwife asked me how I was doing via email, so since I typed it up, I am going to share it with you too. It’s pretty short… so far.
Warning: This is a personal pregnancy health post, so there may be TMI(too much information) for some of you! Not too bad, but just a warning.
How I am doing:
Baby is low. Very low. Has been very low for a few weeks now. Sleeps on my bladder, I am sure of it. I woke up the other morning and felt the old pelvic bones shift before I even moved. That was not fun.
So, I’m tired and sore. Belly-sore. any of you know how that feels? It’s a weird sort-of feeling, not a tummy ache, and not (too) painful, but just sore.Having contractions quite a bit.
Trying to not do too much, but you know how that goes.Lots of good baby movement. Often.
I have to go to the bathroom about every hour or so.I have been worried about my weight gain of just 6#, but I know I am eating well, and I take supplements, so I really shouldn’t worry, I suppose!
Taking my iron and other supplements. Drinking red raspberry tea.
Eating well.Just tired, I think.
I’m sleeping fine though. Until the puppy has to go out.I am sure my bp is low… it is usually around 100/50 or so
Oh, and for the many of you who are asking… I have about a month left.
Not long at all. It will be here before I know it. Can’t wait to meet the little sweetie.
And don’t ask about names. My husband chooses about… 1 name…. and then I have t ofigure out others that I like too that he might accept… it is a long, drawn-out process, and I am far too tired to deal with it now. He did give me one name (see, I told you), and I am tossing it around. It is ok, but not a particular favourite.
And, he did not give me a name for a boy AND a girl, so it might not be helpful in the least anyway!
For those of your who don’t remember, it took us six weeks to finalize LucyLillie’s name.
Oh darn… and I STILL need to get the rest of the birth kit around. erggh… Got to remember that!
be blessed friends, and may you have peace in your home~

It does sound like sooner rather than later. How long do you typically go? I am usually pretty close to my EDD. I know many ladies who go to 42 weeks. Usually by the last 2 I am done! lol My DD#1 has her birthday in a month-the 17th. She will be 9 this year, time flies
I am kind of liking not thinking about it.
We don’t have names at this point–still 3 months to go. DH and I have unintentionally taken turns thus far, and it is his turn
Praying for easy days to come and much rest for you

I am not typical at all! lol
Here is how it has gone:
So… as you can tell, there is no usual time, earlier or later. I am usually low too, so that is no indicator.
I am anxious to have him/her here, but my house is NOT ready yet!
I am praying to just keep this little on where he/she is until it is truly time. I usually have lots of contractions too… at least in the past few. Movement is good, though, and I am trusting in Yehovah!
I have measured a week larger in my last 2 appts though. We’ll see!

Jacque,
I remember those days of my daughter especially, sitting so very low. I had all I could do to get out of a chair. I couldn’t drive without extension on my pedals in my car, I couldn’t put on my own shoes lol. I was pitiful.
Hope you are able to rest.

6 pounds the whole pregnancy? You must be all baby in the truest sense. *Ü*
My homebirth was an amazing stretch of faith and a testimony to how faithful He is. Praying for a wonderful homebirth for you!

This will be our fourth home birth. I think they are all a stretch of faith. I know in my heart that it is a natural process that we could do alone if necessary, and fear is always ready to pounce. I know Yehovah’s plan for our family is life and peace and rest in him. I know he is here to keep us and will do so.
I am also thankful for a great midwife, and my daughters (and Matt, of course!)who have been through this with me several times!

It’s certainly an exciting time! I hope you have a good, safe homebirth – it is such a shame that it is not more common in the US, and that it is even illegal in some states, I hear! Fortunately over here, whilst not common, it is not that uncommon anymore and most expectant mothers here have midwives rather than doctors attending to them throughout pregnancy (though it depends on what part of the country you live in). Do you swaddle? I hear that babies really love it.

i also have had three homebirths. i had my first 2 at hospitals becuz i thought you “had to” lol and the other 2 hospital births were due to medical problems we learned of beforehand..

I CERTAINLY hope I do not go 3 weeks early… that would definitely put a wrench in my plans to get this house in order before the birth! That is only a couple of weeks away! YIKES!
No, whenever time is right is when I am ready and trust in Yehovah to bring little baby to us!

Wow, your post sure does bring back memories for me. I never gained much weight either. Made it much easier to lose. I gained 5 lbs with my youngest daughter & she weighed 7.5 lbs. That was nice.
I always use one of those pregnancy belts towards the end to lift up my belly a little & help with the pressure. Or Scott would come up behind me and pick up my belly. Oh, that felt good!
Anyway, praying for you. Praying that sweet little one is growing strong & healthy. And praying that the birth is smooth and a wonderful blessing to you & your family. I loved having my babies at home.

Hey Jacque, I hear you on the tired! I’ve been there, too.
About the pelvis issue…if you can find a good chiropractor where you live, he/she could really help you with that. For the last three babies, I’ve gone to a chrio, and they help get my pelvis lined up so pushing is short and sweet. They are also able to adjust pregnant women to help further things along and really prepare your body for the labor. I’ve had 3 without a chiro, and now 3 with, and it’s a WORLD of difference.
Praying for you! I’m right behind you – 53 days to go.
)))))))))
Love,
