Saturday Psalms and Praise: Feast of Trumpets
Posted By Jacque on September 19, 2009
Please forgive me for the lateness of getting this up. I have been very tired as of late!
Leviticus 23:23-25
Yehovah said to Moshe, 24 “Tell the people of Isra’el, ‘In the seventh month, the first of the month is to be for you a day of complete rest for remembering, a holy convocation announced with blasts on the shofar. 25 Do not do any kind of ordinary work, and bring an offering made by fire to Yehovah.’”
I want to just take the time today to praise our Father for the appointment of the Feasts to his people. There is such a rich heritage of our God and the Messiah interwoven throughout each of them, and I am blessed to know this. I am praising him today because he has allowed me to yearn for him in a deeper way than ever before and has revealed these things to our family.
It is exciting to me that all of these things we are living through even now are shadowed and represented in these Appointed Feasts – appointed thousands of years ago!!
Rosh Hashana, Feast of Trumpets, is representative of the Messiah’s return to get his bride. Trumpets – Shofars are blown for the previous 30 days, in representation of warning the Bride that he is coming and his return is soon. I just posted Matthew 24 yesterday on our bible Study blog, and it is amazing what Yeshua has already revealed to us. We do NOT have to fear. We do not have to wonder. He is sufficient for us and has given us all we need. We DO have to be aware of all the “trumpets” being blown as a warning to our spirits that the end is coming, and he is returning for a holy bride, set apart, and walking the narrow path.
It is also traditionally a time to make amends. I have been amazed at how Yehovah has been calling my heart in this. He is so good. I have been in contact with friends, asking for accountability, receiving encouragement and love that Yehovah knew I needed at this time in my life.
How awesome is Yehovah that he gave us all of this interwoven into His Word through His Torah so that we could be prepared and trust in him rather than fear and face the unknown!!!
The most important thing we have discovered is that 4 of the 7 Appointed Feasts have been fulfilled by marked times in history. These are times that reveal the Messiah, and he has been revealed in this world in 4 of them:
Passover – This feast celebrates the deliverance of the Hebrew slaves from Egypt and redemption from slavery through the blood of the Passover Lamb. It is a foreshadow of Yeshua, the “Passover Lamb” – Messiah who fulfilled Passover, redeeming us from sin (1 Cor 5:7).
Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is a picture of sanctification, followed: represents leaven as a symbol of sin (I Cor. 5:6-8) Yeshua was buried. Leaven represents sin, of which Yeshua had none.
Feast of Firstfruits, celebrated on the morning AFTER the first Sabbath following the feasts of Unleavened Bread (Lev 23:10-11) is symbolic of Yeshua being the first of the Firstfruits (1 Cor 15:23).
Feast of Weeks (Shavuot) -Pentecost: Celebrated 50 days after Passover, celebrates when, after they came out of Egypt, they became Yehovah’s people and accepted YHWH’s Torah, given at Mount Sinai.
The Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah) is the next appointed feast in the yearly celebrations (Matthew 24:30-31).
After that comes the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), then Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot).
I am very blessed this week because we are again learning so much about the scriptures, but also in my family. I am SO utterly thankful for each person in our family. Yehovah knows who we need in our families. He just does. I thank him for his protection through my husband – from things in my own life and from the fears of the future. May Yehovah always be praised!
So, we are celebrating Rosh Hoshana, looking for our Messiah’s return! We are learning so many wonderful things, but I think I could love Rosh Hoshana just because of all the GREAT Apple recipes alone!!
Be very blessed!

Happy Rosh Hoshana! It is only recently that my eyes have been opened to the true links between the Old and New Testaments, and how as a Christian I am part of God’s Holy Nation of Israel. However, now I understand it more it has really enriched my faith – God provides us with so much!
I hope the little one on the way isn’t giving you too much trouble!
