Don’t Let the CRC Take Our Freedoms!

Posted By Jacque on June 24, 2009

{OUR FREEDOMS means the freedoms of the parents to parent and the freedoms of the children to be parented by their loving parents – of whom most are.}

I don’t care about the other beliefs or ideas of this organization or Michael Farris, as to whether or not I agree with every religious or political view he has, so please don’t ‘warn me’ about him and his organization. THIS is important. Our President has made it a top priority to take away parental rights in some parts of our government. Period. He and many others want to GIVE our rights as a sovereign nation to the UN. THAT is what the CRC does.

Whether you believe it or not, it does. I have been researching this ‘treaty’ for several years now, and if what happened in the past month in the UK and is still occurring with their CRC and parents’ rights doesn’t prove why this would be legislated, then I hope we don’t have to prove it out in the US for you to believe it.

ANY government law that takes away your rights as a parent, based on “what’s best for all” or whatever reason, is TAKING AWAY YOUR FREEDOM.

They keep bringing up Somalia. As if the US has the same reasons as Somalia for not ratifying it. That is just propaganda to make you feel that if you don’t agree with the CRC, then you are as bad as those child abusers in Somalia. No. Somalia’s reasons for not ratifying have no bearing on our country or its laws, intentions and freedoms.

If our government and the public school officials are worried about the abusive parents in this country, then they ought to deal with them properly and teach some good old VALUES to the children in the schools so they grow up to become adults who VALUE LIFE and treat children WELL. Don’t take away the freedoms of the good parents because you aren’t teaching many of those in your own charge to be good citizens.

THAT is not what this country is about.

However…. if you all recall, Senator Obama ran a campaign of “Let’s all share the wealth.” In other words, even if you didn’t work for it, YOU DESERVE TO NOT BE POOR. Really? Well, maybe Matt should quit his TWO JOBS, and we should “be poor” and just scam off of the guy who is making more anyway. I just don’t think so. THAT is wrong. Sounds like stealing to me.

Anyway, the CRC is going to go up to be ratified again. Mr. Farris has some words on that below. Please take time to read them.

Dear Friend of Parental Rights,

Monday in a Harlem middle school, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice told a group of 120 students that administration officials are actively discussing “when and how it might be possible to join”  (that is, ratify) the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).  As before, she also communicated what a disgrace it is that the U.S. would stand with only Somalia against such a widely-accepted treaty.

This is the first direct public statement by the Obama administration that it will seek ratification of the UN CRC.

In my 30 years of political involvement, I have learned to recognize this as what is called a “trial balloon.” Like in World War I trench warfare, our opponents have “sent up a balloon” to see if it will draw fire. If things remain quiet, they will proceed with their plans to push for ratification of the CRC in the U.S. Senate.

To discourage them from doing so, we need to make sure that our voices are heard with unmistakable clarity.  We must let the Obama administration know that we oppose this anti-family, anti-American treaty.

Here’s what we need you all to do:

1.      Call the White House comments line at 202-456-1111. Tell them you heard the administration wants to ratify the CRC, and you strongly oppose this giving away of U.S. sovereignty to the UN. Also keep in mind that this treaty gives the government jurisdiction to override any decision made by any parent if the government thinks that a better decision can be made—even if there is no proof of any harm.

2.      Call Ambassador Susan Rice’s office at the United Nations. Tell her that you want her to represent the United States to the world rather than trying to get the United States to go along with international law initiated by the UN.  Her office number is 212-415-4000.

3.      Contact your Senators and urge them to oppose ratification of this treaty. (Find your Senators’ contact information by typing your zip code into the box here.) Ask them also to defeat it once and for all by cosponsoring SJRes 16 – the Parental Rights Amendment.

It is very important that we speak up right now.  Please call before you close this email!

Sincerely,

Michael Farris

Somalia doesn’t have a government. :) But serious, that whole thing is a bit misleading. Look through the signatories and you have a book of reservations where different nations have said they won’t be following this or that. And many of them have the freedom to simply not follow the treaty. I get so sick of people saying there is no enforcement by the UN. The US doesn’t (or at least shouldn’t) sign a treaty for show with no intention of following it.

And while it is causing issues among Western nations, what has it done for girls sold into slavery in the Sudan, into prostitution in Southeast Asia, honor killings in the Middle East, female circumcision in Africa?

I think that misleading the public is really the only way to get it passed… :/
I agree that we should not sign it “just for show”, but as much as some may say it would only be for show, we both know better than that. There are already a rash of cases against parents in this country, and this would just be the justification for those and many more.
Not to mention – “just for show” – that lacks integrity to start with. (I know we all know that! )

The points you bring up are very good points. IF the CRC is FOR the children, then let’s judge it by its fruit. THOSE would be the crimes against children that should set precedence in enforcing the CRC.

Jocelyn made the point that those are countries that one doesn’t just walk into, though, and enforce these things anyway. Now, the US… it seems, would be willing to send a red-carpet-invite in certain cases to the UN to enforce it upon some of its citizens.
And we know which ones would go first…..
    !!

I appreciate your aspects of this and what have shared on your blog, Dana.
    Thanks!

Here in the UK, we are fighting the new proposals that go against our rights as citezens. They want to be able to enter our houses and question our children alone, thus giving the authorities police powers and the right to revoke home ed for any reason. The opposition party are opposed to this and there is due to be a general election next year. There is a general thought that this present government WILL NOT be re elected. They will overturn anything that goes against our civil liberties.

So what can we do? Is there anything?

I mean, besides the above, lol. Honestly, I don’t think it matters what we want. If the gov’t wants something done, they’re going to push it through whether we want them to or not. Just like this universal health care. They feed everyone a bunch of lies – then once it’s signed in, that’s that.

I think reading Mr. Farris’s site, http://parentalrights.org regularly and signing up for his newsletter will be the best way to keep informed. I also found out he has a twitter: http://twitter.com/michaelfarris that he uses to send out updates.
They keep everyone pretty well-informed about what when why and who to contact in such cases.

Keeping yourself informed and spreading the word to your friends and family about what the CRC really is and that the US WILL be forfeiting rights to the UN through it is a great way to be pro-active in the process.
