Write This On The Hearts of Your Children

Posted By Jacque on June 28, 2009

This whole chapter in Proverbs 15 is very good, but I was so moved by the first seven verses. This is something our children definitely need to have in their spirits, written on their hearts, that they may walk in the Spirit and in truth!

The world is evil, and even Believers have it wrong sometimes. We have to teach the Words of the Holy God to our children so that they are not deceived. I am so thankful to be able to daily do this.

1 A gentle response deflects fury, but a harsh word makes tempers rise.

2 The tongue of the wise presents knowledge well, but the mouth of a fool spews out folly.

3 The eyes of ADONAI are everywhere, watching the evil and the good.

4 A soothing tongue is a tree of life, but when it twists things, it breaks the spirit.

5 A fool despises his father’s discipline, but he who heeds warnings is prudent.

6 The home of the righteous is a storehouse of treasure, but the earnings of the wicked bring trouble.

7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools.

What words to meditate on. What promises to remember and have in our hearts!

Life is not always so kind, just because we know the Lord. We need these words terribly. I need these words terribly. I want to reflect the Father and his words in my words and my responses. I desperately want my children to too.

The only way to know these words is to know them.

be blessed in the Messiah!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I am really working on how I parent my children. As we approach homeschooling, I am becoming more and more aware of ways I have failed in training them due to laziness, selfishness, or previously just by not knowing the Lord’s words. I am working diligently to provide a good, consistent model for them, and I know that God will direct my path. Wishing I had begun this earlier instead of having to reteach my children these things at almost 10 and 7.

    Blessings beloved~

Hear, O Yisra’ĕl: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one!
and you are to love YHVH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding, and with all your strength.' 6 These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart; 7 and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Welcome

Welcome to my online home, Walking Therein. I am a 40-something wife and Momma, trying to walk therein, squeezing in moments of Scripture reading, praise and worship and just quiet between the breastfeeding, child training, cooking, cleaning, child training, laundry, home school, child training, online ministries, and spending individual moments with hubby, adult children, Middles, Littles, and the infant.
Tis the life the Father gave me, and I am blessed to walk in it.
Did I mention the child training?

"Who am I? Nobody special; just a flawed wife and mom, daughter, sister, and friend chosen by YHVH to follow and tell about him."

I am a Believer in the one true God and the Messiah, his Son, whose name is Yehoshua. We keep his commandments because that is what his people do.
"...God's people, those who observe his commands and exercise Yehoshua's faithfulness."
Revelation 12, 14, 22
