Learning From the Heart

“The mother’s heart is the child’s school-room.” ~Henry Ward Beecher
Home schooling is many things to many different families, not to mention the unknown suppositions by those outside the home schooling reality. For our family, home schooling is not just a means to an end or a means to educate, but a means by which to teach our children how to live, how to think, and how to continue living and learning long after their formal training times have officially ended.
Luke 6: 43-45
43 “For no good tree produces bad fruit, nor does a bad tree produce good fruit. 44 Each tree is recognized by its own fruit — figs aren’t picked from thorn bushes, nor grapes from a briar patch. 45 The good person produces good things from the store of good in his heart, while the evil person produces evil things from the store of evil in his heart. For his mouth speaks what overflows from his heart.
We must guard our own hearts as mothers, filling it with the good things of our God Yehovah if we wish to see the good fruit in the hearts of our children. Learning how to live and think is a daily task and applies every moment of our lives to walking in the Word and His Spirit. In holding these daily lessons to the truths of the Word of God, we give our children a clear path and a good foundation to live by.
