Home Remedies and Spring Tornados

Posted By Jacque on March 9, 2009

With all of the studying and researching I have done over the past few years when we had illness in our home, I have found quite a bit of information. I went ahead and added a Home Remedies page to my site. My top link on searches is – can you believe it? – LucyLillie’s Mosquito Bite with 732 hits. Who would have thought that her misfortune would be such a blessing to so many people?

My second most popular post is no surprise: GOOT Garlic Oil Salve for What Ails You with 697 hits. This is why I decided to go ahead and add in the Home remedies page. People are looking, and I know what it means to be able to come up with the info right when you need it.

There are all kinds of interesting facts and information on the page. One that I am most impressed with is the info I found about Virgin Coconut Oil and Its Health Benefits. I am going to start using it as a moisturizer. I have already added it to my ACV/honey regimen. [If you read the comment section linked on the post, you will find it helps get rid of belly fat!]

SPRING

I hope to get the photos posted of the beautiful day we had outside on Friday. It was gorgeous. We had a great ime outside playing and working together.

Yesterday kind of blew that all away though, as a tornado went through our area, not far from our home. We know when it went through too, because Hannah was out to the barn, and the rain kicked up and the winds went up to about 70mph, and I watched her to make sure she made it up here before Amanda checked weather.com to find out a tornado had been spotted in our area. Needless to say, we made it to the basement really quick!

PURIM

We are studying Purim this week, still. It begins tonight at sunset. I hope to get the info posted we have learned. GOD has shown us many things in the studies we have been doing about our Hebrew Roots as Believers. Not to put us under the yoke of the Law, but to give us the freedom to walk as Israel, grafted into the vine as his very own, adopted into the family.

You can read a little about that: My Deliverer and also on GGM: Purim, The Holiday of Joy by Mrs.D

Esther 4: 16
Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

HSBA POST

You will find me posting today at the HSBA Post: Home School Discoveries for Spring. Be sure to pop on over there and read my article and look around.

JAMES 1:27

Be sure to look at the GTH widgets on the sidebar for the single and widowed families. What can you offer to pledge your support to them? What sacrifice in your daily routine can you make so they can stay home and teach their children?  Brother Can You Spare A Dime?

James 1:27
“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

I probably read that GOOT article 142 times ;) I still can’t locate the coconut oil at the stores, do you have an idea where to find it? Next to the vegetable oil perhaps? Oy!

The coconut oil we buy is Spectrum brand. I buy it at Kroger and it is located in the organic section next to the other Spectrum oils. Don’t know if y’all have a Kroger or Owen’s or Albertson’s in CA tho…I have seen at Wal Mart there is a coconut oil located in the aisle that has crisco (bleh) and such. The brand is something like “Lou” or some such weirdy name…

I also found this place online that solely sells coconut oil: http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/
They have a twitter where they put up their specials too: http://twitter.com/troptraditions

Hopefully out of all that you can find some coconut oil! :P

Thank you for your help!! I actually found it a few days ago when I was looking for some baking ingredients, it was next to the vegetable oil after all. It’s really neat looking, I thought it would be in liquid form. D’oh.

Are there any other uses for coconut oil? I bought a huge jar of it LOL

P.S. Aw, we used to have Albertson’s in California but it was replaced by a weird name “Save Mart” :P

    Thanks hon!

So glad you found it! nope its not like other oils.

I like to melt the coconut oil and put it on my salads or any other food I am eating! I even put it in my water and tea. It was a bit oily, but no taste.

We don’t have an Albertson’s here.. just Kroger, Scott’s, Aldi, and WalMart

Hear, O Yisra’ĕl: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one!
and you are to love YHVH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding, and with all your strength.' 6 These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart; 7 and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Welcome

Welcome to my online home, Walking Therein. I am a 40-something wife and Momma, trying to walk therein, squeezing in moments of Scripture reading, praise and worship and just quiet between the breastfeeding, child training, cooking, cleaning, child training, laundry, home school, child training, online ministries, and spending individual moments with hubby, adult children, Middles, Littles, and the infant.
Tis the life the Father gave me, and I am blessed to walk in it.
Did I mention the child training?

"Who am I? Nobody special; just a flawed wife and mom, daughter, sister, and friend chosen by YHVH to follow and tell about him."

I am a Believer in the one true God and the Messiah, his Son, whose name is Yehoshua. We keep his commandments because that is what his people do.
"...God's people, those who observe his commands and exercise Yehoshua's faithfulness."
Revelation 12, 14, 22

Jacque Mrs. Jacque Dixon and her husband, Matt are busy preparing and training their nine children up in YHVH's narrow way. We are currently living and home schooling in Costa Rica, sharing our love of Torah online. Walking Therein is where Jacque writes encouraging articles of faith, home schooling and the daily adventures of the Dixon family, with a mix of news and reviews also thrown in from time to time.
