Saturday Praise to A Patient, Merciful God

Posted By Jacque on February 14, 2009

I hate to sound repetitious, but our God is more deserving of praise and adoration and thanks than any one person or all the population together could ever give.

Exodus 34
1And the LORD said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest. 2And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount. 3And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount. 4And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.

5And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.

6And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, 7Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

8And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.

Saturday Psalm & Praise

God is not good because he has blessed us with 8 wonderful, perfect-for-our-family children. God is not good because he has kept my heart to my husband for twenty years. God is not good because he has helped us and seen us through the past year as Grandma left the earth to go to him, nor is he good during all the trials and tribulations former friends have put us through for the past two years.

God is a patient, good, and merciful God for doing all of these things, but he is good because he just is. He is God, and God is good. I have many different favorite praise songs, and I have not even been adding one to my Saturday Psalm & Praise posts, because I have become so overwhelmed in my soul just at the goodness and place God has given to us and brought us to in this place in time.

I love him and I praise him, not because of what he does or gives, but because of who he is. It has been a blessing and a joy to search the Scriptures and find out who God is. The OT tells more of his character than does the NT, to me, and it has been interesting to really dig in and find out about him and the truth aside from Bible stories about those who went before us.

This song came out in 1994. It was one of my favorite songs to sing with at home or as a special in services. It is so powerful. I don’t think we see God in all the WORD many times, but He IS there, just as He IS in all of our lives. Be blessed!

Thankyou Jacquie for your always sharing with us all from your heart! I don’t have a blog yet…but you inspire me. I am blessed over and over by your Christ centeredness in your writing. God has gifted you to reach out to others and you are using your gift so unselfishly, may God be glorified, as He is through this blog. Listening to the the song “He is”, that I have heard so many times before, never impacted me the way it did today, it actually brought tears to my eyes. I am chosen in Him, that is very humbling…me a broken vessel, so unworthy, and yet in His Grace and Mercy He chose me. My prayer for you is that God would bless you beyond what you could imagine.

    Dear Cheryl~
You have greatly encouraged me today, and I want to thank you from the depths of my heart. I do not always feel like I have a Christ-centeredness, but I do try to encourage and honor the LORD in my writing.
I know just what you mean “I am chosen in Him, that is very humbling…me a broken vessel, so unworthy, and yet in His Grace and Mercy He chose me.”
I thank you, thank you, thank you for your blessing. I receive it for all God has for me and for my family, and I pray He will abundantly bless you for your love and encouragement to me, a part of the Body.
Many blessings to you and yours.

    blessings,
    Jacque

Hear, O Yisra’ĕl: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one!
and you are to love YHVH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding, and with all your strength.' 6 These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart; 7 and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
{Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Mark 12:28-30}

Welcome

Welcome to my online home, Walking Therein. I am a 40-something wife and Momma, trying to walk therein, squeezing in moments of Scripture reading, praise and worship and just quiet between the breastfeeding, child training, cooking, cleaning, child training, laundry, home school, child training, online ministries, and spending individual moments with hubby, adult children, Middles, Littles, and the infant.
Tis the life the Father gave me, and I am blessed to walk in it.
Did I mention the child training?

"Who am I? Nobody special; just a flawed wife and mom, daughter, sister, and friend chosen by YHVH to follow and tell about him."

I am a Believer in the one true God and the Messiah, his Son, whose name is Yehoshua. We keep his commandments because that is what his people do.
"...God's people, those who observe his commands and exercise Yehoshua's faithfulness."
Revelation 12, 14, 22

Jacque Mrs. Jacque Dixon and her husband, Matt are busy preparing and training their nine children up in YHVH's narrow way. We are currently living and home schooling in Costa Rica, sharing our love of Torah online.
