Dixon News and No News
Posted By Jacque on July 8, 2008
Well, will wonders never cease? I received an email from Aunt Barbara saying that my father-in-law wants to move to Louisiana and is now looking for a storage building there. This is amazing to me, because my mother-in-law’s family has lived there for the 20 years I have known them, and she has always wanted to move there, but no one thought he would ever want to.
Probably because he has always given the idea the scoff and eye-roll when it was ever brought up.
Matt had the same reaction to the news that I did:
“WHAT?!?!?!?!!!”
Yes, we are in shock. This may be one of those, “I won’t believe it ’til I see the moving van pull out of the driveway” type things, but it is still a shock. So, there is one family we won’t have in Las Cruces to move near to. hmmmmmm…..
The icon, I made, is one of the many beautiful magnolias I shot at Aunt Barbara’s. I haven’t really blogged our vacation pictures, but Amanda and Jocelyn have. I would like to. Maybe they will use that icon on their posts.
What do you think girls??
Carnival-wise
In other, less weird, but more fun news
, Amanda is hosting the Carnival of Homeschooling this week. And, it seems that having her host it is the only way I can remember to get an article into it! Her theme is so cute: Ice Cream Parlour. She had asked and asked if Jocelyn and I had any ideas, and when I said ‘ice cream stand’, she said she had already thought about that. She made her own graphics, and it turned out pretty cute. There are some really interesting articles in it (as usual) this week, too that you should peruse. Each weekly issue of the COH really is a good resource for all different types of info: Homeschooling encouragement, curriculum information, planning, links, news resources and opinions. So, Let’s Go To The Ice Cream Parlour!
Another great carnival this week that I have particular interest in is The Homesteading carnival. This week’s edition is being hosted by my very sweet and dear friend, Heather, of Sprittibee. You all know how excited we were to meet her in April and that we also got to spend a little time at her home on our Great Trip to the South West, so you know how dear she is to me! Anyway, she is hosting The Homesteading Carnival: Lazy Summer Weekend Edition.

Indiana Weather
I was upstairs shooting some photos this afternoon, when I pointed the camera out the window, and saw dark, swirling clouds. I went downstairs to make sure that the things on the list to be put away had been taken care of, because I knew we were in for a storm.
So, there is our excitement for the day. There are more Indiana Weather photos, if you would like to see them. I am off to check off some more on that list up there. Amanda is at the grocery store, and we have all been glued to the PBS Special The War by Ken Burns. We rented the DVD from the library. So, we are pretty busy around here, as usual.
blessings!

So what does that mean for your upcoming move? Will you still look at Texas/New Mexico or does this alter your plans?
Love the storm picture – very awesome.

Gosh, we don’t know. I don’t know. I have a husband who doesn’t talk much. LOL Add to that the shock and amazement, and he doesn’t have much to say. We still have my sister in eastern NM and my mother in Las Cruces. Mom is willing to – planning to – move, though. My sister and Adrian are too, and awaiting God’s revelation of what they are to do too.
I was talking to Jen on the IM yesterday, and it is quite amazing, all that has changed since we started this journey. My mom is now willing to move, and Matt’s parents now. I wonder what will happen next. All things are swirling around in my mind. I just need to know so I can plan it, you know!! LOL
We also found a house in central TX for sale in the precise town we had been looking at for PO jobs the day earlier! A lady sent an email for her friend to a Goat-sale ring that Jocelyn belongs to. It is for a property with 19 ac. and two houses that can be used as one or separately. We were all swooning over the idea of 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms!! And, the farm has a spring-fed pond and a GOAT SET-UP!
Of course, our home is not ready to be sold yet, and the price tag on the other, while a great deal, is probably more than we can spend… but I serve a God with a plan (even if I do’t know it!) and who is the owner of a cattle on a thousand hills, so I know that all things are possible!
Anyway… long answer for a short: we are still looking at Texas. I don’t know what it is about Texas, but it just feels right. Talk to me about it next week; it could change!! LOL
Blessings!

You know, Amanda, I do want to move. I would love to just pick up and move our entire homestead… minus the mosquitoes, of course! But, I do not know where exactly I want to move to… That is the problem…
I also truly believe we need to stay in a green homeschool state, don’t you??
Love, the Momma

Hello Mrs. Dixon! Thanks for stopping by my blog, good to hear from you!
Glad y’all liked the post and videos
. Anytime I can bring a smile to someone’s face, I’m satisfied lol.
Yes, it’s such a blessing to get to have little siblings, and watch them grow up (especially in the Lord).
I just can’t stand it when I hear older siblings complain about their younger siblings. I mean, we’ve had our share of ups and downs, but in the end we love each other to death! I love being a part of a big family, it’s a blessing.
God Bless, Holly
