Breathe Deeply and Feel the Urgency

Posted By Jacque on January 10, 2009

Saturday Psalm & PraiseWe have been reading a page or two a day out of the chronological Bible. It has been a good time in the LORD for us, and I have personally been delighted for the unlimited time with all the children gathered to worship the LORD and discuss the WORD each day. My soul is thirsting after the LORD.

Honestly, I am determined to use all the time we can to teach our children of the One True God and His WORD, memorizing it and getting it into their hearts and minds so that it will not be removed. So that they will also “thirsteth for God, for the living God” and trust in Him always.

I feel an urgency.

As the hart panteth after the water brooks”

Psalm 42

1As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
2My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
3My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?
4When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.
5Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm244/ggmstaff/Site%20Graphics/scriptags/soul.png
6O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
7Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.
8Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the day time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
9I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
10As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?
11Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

You know, it would seem that by choosing this psalm, I would be down in spirit, but the opposite is actually true. I am not down, but, rather, in great hopes and anticipation of what the LORD will do in 2009, and what He will do as time progresses and this world changes. He has given me such inspiration of many different things to do with our children, and we are working within schedules again. I am so grateful to His prompting and care for His people.

We have had great discussion of Genesis and of Lucifer being cast down to hell from heaven as we read about the creation of the heaven and the earth. We marveled at how Lucifer is described with all the precious jewels before being cast down to earth from heaven. Because our children have been watching Pilgrim’s Progress, they are hearing things about hell and about the devil and seeing spiritual things being lived out in the movie. Caleb’s new statement is, “hell is real.”  Yes, it is.

And this is why the urgency. Hell is real. Salvation is real. God is real. He is real, and He is true, and He is so much more than we can know. I am excited that we will know Him more each day as we bring His WORD to life in discussion and memorization, reading it in a different order and discussing the meanings and implications of things we have not seen before as Scripture comes together this way. As we learn the how and who, and He continues to come to life to our children, what a blessing it will be to my soul and to the LORD.

Psalm 42After the children were sent to bed tonight, Hannah came in excited that she had seen deer in the field next door as she was covering her windows up. Well, of course, I had to call the Littles in, and we all had to press our noses to the pane to see the five deer eating just a few yards from our property line. As we quietly watched, careful not to expose too much light from behind us, I slowly opened the window so we could get a better view. Oh, how we all took in the loveliness of the deer against the snowy field and ‘ahhhed’ as they ran off all together.

1As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

When I read the first line of Psalm 42, I smiled. And breathed deeply. Just the image of a deer getting to the cool water after panting for it brings a smile to me heart. It is refreshing and cleansing and life-sustaining. As is the WORD of God. I am so thankful for the beauty of His WORD and those who wrote down these words.

blessings,

Jacque Sig

Thank you for a beautiful psalm that you shared with us! I remember a song about the deer growing up in Sunday School and never saw the verses about it! I loved the part when it said when our soul despairs, it constantly asks where is thy God?

Hear, O Yisra’ĕl: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one!
and you are to love YHVH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding, and with all your strength.' 6 These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart; 7 and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Welcome

Welcome to my online home, Walking Therein. I am a 40-something wife and Momma, trying to walk therein, squeezing in moments of Scripture reading, praise and worship and just quiet between the breastfeeding, child training, cooking, cleaning, child training, laundry, home school, child training, online ministries, and spending individual moments with hubby, adult children, Middles, Littles, and the infant.
Tis the life the Father gave me, and I am blessed to walk in it.
Did I mention the child training?

"Who am I? Nobody special; just a flawed wife and mom, daughter, sister, and friend chosen by YHVH to follow and tell about him."

I am a Believer in the one true God and the Messiah, his Son, whose name is Yehoshua. We keep his commandments because that is what his people do.
"...God's people, those who observe his commands and exercise Yehoshua's faithfulness."
Revelation 12, 14, 22
