Saturday Psalm & Praise: Psalm 147:1-12

Posted By Jacque on June 27, 2008

Saturday Psalm & PraiseIt has been a long week. It was a long drive home last Saturday, and it has been a long week of getting back into being home and catching up from being gone for two weeks. I have been looking over all of the pictures we took, smiling at all of the fun times, sweet memories and wishes of being with family.

Throughout those two weeks, I prayed and depended on God’s protection as we traveled through mountains, and mountains, and mountains, and long flat highways where the speed limit is 80mph(!), and fighting sleepiness in the early morning hours.

I was certain (read: hoping) that we would know where we were going to move to by the time we returned home. Spending time with family and daily seeing the Organ Mountains in Las Cruces just wrenches my heart even now when I look at the pictures! I forgot how much I love wide-open spaces! So, it has still been emotional…

Add to that the recent urgent prayer requests, and I have been taken to where I know God wants me: clinging to Him. I can’t imagine living in this world not knowing God. Not being able to live with the faith that, “I don’t understand it, but I know it is in God’s Hands.”

Then, we went for a little walk last night, just Rachel and the Littles and me. We went into town, where the mosquitoes are not so bad, ’cause they spray. Yeah right. Well, now, LucyLillie has a huge swollen eyelid. A mosquito bite. On her eyelid. I am so glad I can gather our children together, lay our hands on Little LL and pray for her healing.

Verse 3 of this Psalm is especially comforting right now.

3He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

God is our Healer and our Comforter. He is our sustainer. I look at my husband and children differently each time I draw close to Him. Praise His Name.

Psalm 147

1Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.

2The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.

3He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

4He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

5Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

6The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.

7Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:

8Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.

9He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.

10He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.

11The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

12Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.

blessings!

and you are to love YHVH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding, and with all your strength.'
