Happy Birthday Rachel

Posted By Jacque on November 5, 2008

Today my dear sweet Rachel turns 15. I cannot believe time has passed so quickly, and she is now such a young lady. She has taken on so many responsibilities around our home, but she is still my Little Girlie!

Rachel means “ewe” in Hebrew. ( רָחֵל ) In the Old Testament this was the name of the favourite wife of Jacob and the mother of Joseph and Benjamin. The name was common among Jews in the Middle Ages, and a most popular name today in the US and Australia.

“Rachel” is also a common modern name given to Jewish girls who might have been named after an older, Yiddish relative by the name of “Raizel”. The name “Raizel” means “rose” in Yiddish. Sometimes the Yiddish name of “Raizel” is translated into the Hebrew name of “Shoshana” instead of the Hebrew name of “Rachel” — because “Shoshana” means “a lily of the valley” or “a rose”.” ~from Behind the Name

What is neat about that is that we considered Shoshanna for Lillie when we were naming LucyLillie. :)

What is also neat is that Rachel is a gentle spirit, much like that of a sweet little lamb. She was the baby for a long time, but, since having little brothers and sisters, she has taken on a motherly role, not just in caring for them, but also in the past year, reading to them and making most of our delicious dinners! She loves making sweet treats for us too!

Rachel, I want you to know how very blessed our entire family is by having you here in it. I also want you to know that I am personally very blessed to have you as my daughter. Your soft-spoken ways and kindnesses to each of us do not go unnoticed. Your servant-heart is a precious thing, and I can see you growing in life and the LORD through it.

Reading the WORD

Aspiring to heed it

Careful to live it

Helping those around her

Expecting nothing in return

Loving regardless

I know you struggle with it sometimes, and I do not say this to you to burden you with an expectation. I know you are a gentle spirit. You always have been. You could sit and play quietly and happily when you were a young child. You still enjoy playing alone in quiet times! You know that! :)

I pray, Rachel, that God will bless your life with the sweet aroma of Himself. I pray that you will take time and have time to read His WORD and hear His voice and become all He has created you to be. I pray for His protection upon your heart, your mind and your spirit. I believe God when He said that He knows the plans He has for you, and that those plans are for good and not for evil. I am thankful that we serve a God of Hope and of love, One who is not demanding, but calls our hearts to Him in love.

I love you Rachel, and I pray this day is a very special day for you!

Deuteronomy 30

16In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

Be blessed today Rachel!

Love, Momma

You can bless Rachel and wish her a

Hear, O Yisra’ĕl: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one!
and you are to love YHVH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding, and with all your strength.' 6 These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart; 7 and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
{Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Mark 12:28-30}

Welcome

Welcome to my online home, Walking Therein. I am a 40-something wife and Momma, trying to walk therein, squeezing in moments of Scripture reading, praise and worship and just quiet between the breastfeeding, child training, cooking, cleaning, child training, laundry, home school, child training, online ministries, and spending individual moments with hubby, adult children, Middles, Littles, and the infant.
Tis the life the Father gave me, and I am blessed to walk in it.
Did I mention the child training?

"Who am I? Nobody special; just a flawed wife and mom, daughter, sister, and friend chosen by YHVH to follow and tell about him."

I am a Believer in the one true God and the Messiah, his Son, whose name is Yehoshua. We keep his commandments because that is what his people do.
"...God's people, those who observe his commands and exercise Yehoshua's faithfulness."
Revelation 12, 14, 22
