Saturday Psalm & Praise: For This God Is Our God
Posted By Jacque on October 18, 2008
I have so been enjoying listening to the song from my last Saturday Psalm & Praise:Saturday Psalm & Praise: My Refuge and My Portion. I used the song His Eye Is On The Sparrow. It has fed my soul and cause me to cry out to Him ALL week!!
This week, I feel our family has had to stand on the WORD in our beliefs more than we have in a long time! It has been such a week of learning and drawing closer to the LORD and His statutes. I can see a line being drawn in so many things in the world lately. The signs of the times are there for anyone who looks, asks and discerns. God is still on the Throne, but He is readying us for another to be on the earthly throne. He will by no means be over us, but the time is near, and we will see it coming soon.
It is at this time in history when we need to know the LORD more than any other. I know the Saints have been saying this since before Jesus even ascended to heaven, but it seems to me that bad goes to worse a lot quicker now than it has throughout my entire life. As though there is a quickening in the times. I have a feeling it is going to get worse. But our hope is not in the circumstances, but rather, in the LORD, so we do not need to fear!
Psalm 48
1Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. 2Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. 3God is known in her palaces for a refuge.
4For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together. 5They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away. 6Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
7Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.
8As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.
9We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple. 10According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.
11Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments. 12Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof. 13Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following. 14For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
This Psalm brings peace to my heart. God is known in Mount Zion’s palaces as a refuge, and He will be our guide, even unto death.
A lot of times, when we are in a hurry, it is easy to skim over a post, and for some reason, especially a Bible verse, but I challenge you to slow down and meditate on this one.
When men marvel and are troubled and run away, and fear takes hold of them, and pain, like the birthing of a child, we can have peace in the LORD. We can think on His lovingkindness.
Oh God, you are my God, and I will ever praise you…
Step by Step
Rich Mullins
O God
You are my God
And I will ever praise You
Oh God
You are my God
And I will ever praise You
I will seek You in the morning
I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You’ll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days
And step by step You’ll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days
“Oh, LORD, thank you for your mercy. Forgive me of my pride LORD, and help me to truly live in all things as though I know you and your refuge and your peace. When things are said or done, may I not rise up in my own strength or fears, but may I sit quietly, in you and learn from you and follow your guided path. May I follow and allow you to lead in all things. May I truly keep it in my heart that you are my God for ever and ever and follow you, even unto death.”

Beautiful post, Jacque. I agree that the lines are being drawn, which are just going to get more and more definitive as time goes on. Sometimes it’s too easy to become complacent. All the more reason to diligently abide in the Lord.

….. I skipped over the Psalms but read it over when you pointed out that we often do! Christians, including myself, just need to let the cares of the world pass them by and simply meditate in the Word. I feel if we did that when the real troubles come we will be armed for battle!

Beautiful thoughts, Jacque! Isn’t it wonderful how the Lord helps us to keep our eyes on Him, and how much peace He gives in troubling times? I can’t imagine facing the crises of our times without Him!
How great is our God! He is in control, no matter what!
Blessings!

I remember hearing that song (it was one of my first cd’s) and thinking that even though our God is great enough that every person can call Him *My God”, He cares enough about each one of us to be our God, and lead us in everything. Thank You, Lord.
Great post, Jacque….

Thank you Jacque. I love that song. How right you are. This is a trying time for us, a time of change and uncertainty. It is such an awesome thing to know that the Lord remains our certainty and we have nothing to fear because we are in His hands. Isn’t it amazing to look back at things and think “okay God, now I understand that.”

I can truly say that God has surrounded me with ladies who either are family or are like family who love Him, and I am so thankful to each of you! It is becoming harder to stand and *stand*, but I believe we will continue to do so, in Him!
Oh LORD, help us not to become complacent, and to see when we start to!
Amen Mom, that He is great enough to be the God of everyone, but also to each of us! awesome.
I am so thankful that we *do* have a certainty. I can’t imagine having to live without it – again!
blessings friends!

Amen Mama! you are so right! What a week, eh?
While I don’t care for Rich Mullins too much, but the words to that song is really powerful!
To know that if we follow Him, He will lead us step by step! What an AWESOME God!
Love you!

Thank you Jacque, I have spent almost all day writing, meditating and editing my post, I hope I did this meme justice. I can honestly say that I am not the same person I was 8 days ago. Between last weekends Talk-A-Latte, the outpouring of love from those ladies since, and spending last night thinking about Praise, and then today working on my blog, I have a much softer heart and a brighter outlook. As each day passes I look forward to the wedding suppper more and more, what a time we will have. Thank you so very much!!!
