Where I Have Been Lately… in Blogland

Here are some of the ‘places’ I visited over the past few days. Take a look…

Jocelyn wrote up an excellent post as a follow-up to a couple of polls she posted on her The Weekly. With Halloween coming up, it is a topic everyone should seriously consider in light of The WORD: Magic For Pleasure. She discusses further her stance on allegorical literature to the Bible using magic and witchcraft when she was quite disgusted when she realized that she was involving herself with something that is of Satan to represent a Holy God.

Saturday Psalm & Praise

Miss Vanessa posted Psalm 46 for her Saturday Psalm & Praise on the Feelin’ Feminine site: God is Our Refuge and Strength. I couldn’t help but relate it to all the rampant fear swirling around the Presidential Elections. Psalm 46 is one of my favorites. God is so awesome, and we try to fit him into our little God-box, and live our lives in fear, not remembering that He IS God is all things.

Saturday Psalm & Praise

Frankly, I am so sick of hearing about how we need to be so afraid of what will happen if Barack Obama becomes President. I don’t want him in the Office, but I am not afraid. I think if we spent more time being still and knowing God is God, then perhaps we would be able to rest and discern what to do and not to do. We could be the Body and the People and the nation that God would have us to be. We are not that People. It must grieve God’s heart.
What a loving and merciful God who loves us. We do not deserve it. We do not deserve His protection, refuge and strength. Frankly, as a nation, we deserve Barack Obama. If he is elected, it won’t be because of the votes or opinions; it will be the judgment of God on a nation that lives in its own lusts and expects God to protect us no matter how we behave. Shame on us.
God is holy. He commands us to be perfect and holy as He is. And look how we are.

It’s a Daybook Carnival!

Hell-o-ween

Charlene posted a great video about Halloween. We have never celebrated hell-o-ween, and we never will. I realized early on when I realized my need for a Saviour and decided to allow the LORD to become my Lord, that halloween is evil. It is not a fun little holiday. It has not just pagan origins, but demonic and evil, satanic origins. Ask any witch or former witch about halloween, and you will find they take it very seriously. As a matter of fact, when I was researching it last year, I read some articles by witches and visited some blogs and forums and read their perspectives. This is their real lives. As we live and speak by the WORD, they live and speak by the evil of satanism. It just is the way it is. It is their religion. Hell-o-ween is EVIL. Period.

You can read more about it at Apples of Gold: Hell-oween (NOT suitable for children)

In the words of Cheech and Chong: “Where were ya born?”

Amanda found a video about Barack Obama and his associates (caution to children). Also, what is up with the question of his birth country? Watch October Surprise. Are we going to get an answer to this? Will it be whitewashed and never answered? I have a question for Mr. Barack Obama: In the words of Cheech and Chong: “Where were ya born?”

Decoding The Proverbs 31 Woman

I am sure you have read Jocelyn’s controversial post on Decoding The Proverbs 31 Woman. I revisited it today, and I could not believe I had not left a comment on it. I guess we discuss these topics so in-depth IRL that I forgot to leave a comment!

Anyway, having lived on both sides of the Christian fence, I can say that the WORD is the WORD is the WORD. The Bible is for today, and we cannot pick and choose and say, “Well, this was for those times; today is different.” We have GOT to stop that. No wonder people do not believe Christians. We preach what we want people to live by, but we stop when it gets too uncomfortable or puts us in a ‘weird light’. Too bad.
Be in the world but not of it. I believe we are called to be aliens. I believe we can live in this world as aliens, unpopular and walking in the LORD.
Can we live in the world and be like the world and be popular and well-liked because we look like the world? sure. Are we still saved? sure, some are. But why would we? God commanded us to:

Be separate. [2 Corinthians 6:17]
Be holy. [Leviticus 20:7, 1 Peter 1:15-16]
Be perfect. [Deuteronomy 18:13, 1 Kings 8:61, 2 Timothy 3:17]

Who cares what the world thinks? Who cares what anyone thinks? Not in a negative, whatever attitude, but in a sold-out, living for God at all costs, please Him attitude.
Live THERE. Read the WORD and live THERE.

Jocelyn also made some beautiful graphics for her P31W articles. Have you seen them?? They are OUTSTANDING! And, what’s really great about them is that she is sharing them! You can get yours for your blog: Decoding The P31W Graphics.

Mommy Homework: Share All About Your Favorite Date with Your Spouse

Have you been to Cindy’s site lately? I have been on her newsletter for a couple of years now, but I am just now making it a priority to go to her Talk-A-Latte chats. [I have ben missing out all this time!] And, my friend, Danielle, asked me last week about doing the Mommy Homework. I thought, “NO WAY!! I do not have time to do another thing!! AAAUUGH!!. Well, I am going to do it as often as I can. I met several new Mommies at Cindy’s Teaching Sons, Teaching Daughters Conference this past weekend, as well as the last one, and also reconnected with the Mommies I know from The Homeschool Lounge. *waves*

So…. you can find my comment on Cindy’s post and read other moms’ comments or your can stay here at Walking Therein: A Date is a Date is a Date.

Something I have learned from the LORD this week

I know that the LORD is with us, not just when we feel blessed and all things look good, but when people are nasty and we feel overwhelmed and we feel as though we can’t see an end to our troubles. He is with us. He is a faithful Father and loves us as he blesses us and as he teaches us and as he chastises us.

Sometimes God takes us to where He is all there is left. Sometimes He is all we need, and He loves us enough to remove all distractions – people, things, commitments, etc. – and allows us to be where we feel like we are not being blessed, but soon the blessings will come because we see only Him and focus on Him and what He has for us.

blessings,

Jacque Sig

Great stuff Jacque! I can’t wait to mosey through all of your links. I am teaching the moms in the ministry at church about Reformation Day in a couple of weeks. I was so surprised to find out that only about 10 out of 120 moms knew what I was talking about!!! I look forward to sharing about how our family has made Reformation Day a holiday in our house on Oct. 31.

    Jacque,
Thank you for all of the great links. I have visited some and will be back later to visit the rest.
I so agree with you on the presidential election. We as a nation have turned away from God. If Obama is elected we are reaping what we have sown. I will continue to pray for our country and for God’s mercy.

Hear, O Yisra’ĕl: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one!
and you are to love YHVH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding, and with all your strength.'

Welcome

Hello friends and welcome! The coffee is fresh, the tea is hot, so pull up a comfy chair and sit with me for a bit.

Who am I? Nobody special; just a flawed wife and mom, daughter, sister, and friend chosen by YHVH to follow and tell about him.

Jacque Mrs. Jacque Dixon and her husband, Matt, train their nine children up in YHVH's narrow way, home schooling on their small homestead in Indiana. She is co-owner and Manager of Gleaning the Harvest, a mission founded by the Dixons, presenting widowed/single mother home school families to YHVH's people. She is also owner and publisher of Training Sons to Be Men, and Training Daughters, Teaching Wives.
