Saturday Psalm & Praise: My Refuge and My Portion

Posted By Jacque on October 11, 2008

I must apologize for this being so late… I started it last night, and then Jocelyn wanted to play Trivial Pursuit. we did that until after 5 this morning! Then, we listened to Cindy Rushton’s Training Sons, Training Daughters Online Conference for the better part of the day. I was on the laptop occasionally, but mostly off listening to Cindy and Theresa Powers. I feel very refreshed and filled after listening to these wonderfully encouraging Moms and talking to the other Moms on the text chat! God is so good to allow us this medium of learning and encouragement!

I recently came across this verse when I was looking for something totally different. It touched me immensely, and then God brought it to life a few days later. It describes not only the rebuke and wounds of an earthly friend, but also that of Our LORD.

Proverbs 27:5-6 Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

We may not know if a human is a friend or an enemy sometimes, but we know that the LORD is a friend. We know that when God openly rebukes us, it is for our good. It is what is best for us.. If it is painful to go through, it is a faithful wound.

As King David found out over and over again from the time he was a young man to the time he was old is that God is always on his side. That is one thing we can know as a wife and as a Mother: God is on our side in our marriage and in our parenting and our children’s lives! God loves His People and wants the best for each of us, even when it seems like things are falling down around us. As I was talking to my friend Vicki, who was in an accident yesterday, we must remember that as humans, we think love is only translated when things are good. We must know that God is with us even when we are corrected and admonished and chastised by Him. That He will give us good, Godly friends who will give us His WORDs and love us, when we feel the world is falling down around us.

THANK YOU LORD!

Psalm 142

1I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.

2I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

3When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

4I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

5I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

6Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

7Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

God is so good. He is a good God. He is a refuge and my portion. I am so very blessed, and I know several of my friends are living a nightmare right now or wondering where God is, and if you are too, just Be still and know that He. is. God. Psalm 46:10

His Eye is On the Sparrow

Why should I feel discouraged
Why should the shadows come
Why should my heart feel lonely
And long for heaven and home
When Jesus is my portion
A constant friend is He
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches over me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me

I sing because I’m happy
I sing because I’m free
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me (He watches me)
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches
I know He watches
I know He watches me

I sing because I’m happy
I sing because I’m free
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me (He watches me)
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me (He watches me)
He watches me
I know
He watches
Me

This song just came to mind. I don’t think I have used this song before, and I haven’t heard it in a while either. I am going to spend some time meditating on it though. It is on my Playlist at the bottom of my sidebar if you want to listen.

blessings,

Great scriptures! Love those. I feel like David too. Crying out to God why are all those against us prospering still! But we have to trust completely and ONLY in God’s timing and His perfect will!

OH, I love that song. My sister sings it soooooo beautifully. Whenever I try to sing it in morning devotions with my children I get choked up. Thankfully, Kaitlyn knows just to take the lead until I can catch up!

Thank you, I visited your page and decided to camp out here awile, sit back, enjoy the music and a good read. I got up to wash my face before getting to deep into my reading and the song Mercy Seat came on your player. I have heard this song many times, and at one time was very special to me. As I was listening I realized why Mary was so enthralled at Jesus’ feet, that is the Mercy Seat. It used to be on the Ark, I know this, but now it is sitting at the Lord’s feet. Something in me broke, I will not go into it now, but the pain is leaving, and I just sat and let Him hold me and rock me. Thank you for sharing, and I was glad to meet you and your wonderful girls (well 2 of them) this past weekend at Cindy’s seminar.

Hear, O Yisra’ĕl: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one!
and you are to love YHVH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding, and with all your strength.' 6 These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart; 7 and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
{Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Mark 12:28-30}

Welcome

Welcome to my online home, Walking Therein. I am a 40-something wife and Momma, trying to walk therein, squeezing in moments of Scripture reading, praise and worship and just quiet between the breastfeeding, child training, cooking, cleaning, child training, laundry, home school, child training, online ministries, and spending individual moments with hubby, adult children, Middles, Littles, and the infant.
Tis the life the Father gave me, and I am blessed to walk in it.
Did I mention the child training?

"Who am I? Nobody special; just a flawed wife and mom, daughter, sister, and friend chosen by YHVH to follow and tell about him."

I am a Believer in the one true God and the Messiah, his Son, whose name is Yehoshua. We keep his commandments because that is what his people do.
"...God's people, those who observe his commands and exercise Yehoshua's faithfulness."
Revelation 12, 14, 22
