Intentional Blogging & Blogging Rules for Our Home

Posted By Jacque on July 15, 2006

I have long-felt that blogging can be an educational experience. This goes for me and our children. The only thing is, that, like most things that we start with the best of intentions… we need to do some Spring Cleaning – all year!

Lately, I have been convicted of our online time and the keeping up of our home, which is our love and intention…. *Did I say intention??* That is what I mean to be the priority…I do not want HomeKeeping to be a mere intention. I don’t want my relationship with the LORD to be something I remember as I slink into bed at night – or early morning – after blogging for several hours. I don’t want to say ‘Hi’ to Matt, my dh, in passing, between the computer and the dinner table. I don’t want tending my garden to be something I wished I had done better. I do not want my children to grow up thinking I HAVE to blog… or that they do! *I guess it’s kinda’ late for that, huh???*

I have seen bloggers leaving their blogs due to the demands it makes on their time. I have seen bloggers who have felt the need to take a hiatus, to regain their focus and their real lives. I think we all understand that blogging takes time. I don’t think any of us – homeschoolers, Believers, Titus 2 women – can afford to let it take over our lives. We have goals of training our children to be lovers of the One True God, Keeping our Homes and cherishing these moments. Somedays, I find myself sitting down at the computer and staying there too long.

I also want to be intentional with my blogging, because, I think that journaling and keeping record of our days is very important. I think it is important to our lives and to future generations. That is also why I scrapbook. However, if I sacrifice today and my relationships with My Lord and my loved ones; if I sacrifice loving, experiencing, and training our children, then recording all of this is rather futile.

To gain control of blogging a bit, we have set up 2 days a week for each of the girls to blog. They get 2 hours each day. They hated that at first, but it has worked out so far. 2dd15, Jocelyn, has a couple of American friends living in Turkey with whom she corresponds. She got the nicest letter from one of them who wrote about a blog she and her Mother are keeping as a nature journal. What a nice thought.

My intention for blogging was for the girls to journal about things like this – things they are learning or studying in addition to their other posts. I think they each have very nice blogs and most of their posts are thoughtful – or well-thought out.

I am the kind of person who wants to do thing intentionally. So, I have been re-thinking this blog. I have so many homeschool ideas and tips I want to get typed up for my own files that I know would be helpful or useful to others. I want to get those here on our Homeschool blog.

For the longest time, I have wanted to post recipes and other ideas… homesteading stuff – like the using cloth diapers, breastfeeding, home birthing, gardening, etc. Since I already have another at Homesteadblogger, I am going to start posting our homesteading and gardening, recipes, etc… on Homesteadblogger. I will link posts, though. There are a lot of homestead’y ideas on that site and blogs that I love to read about.

Until now, I have just been double-posting at HSB1 and HSB2. I have decided that I am going to put homeschool information here on HSB1, and Homestead information on HSB2. I will still post about our family in both . I also got the idea that I want to post some of my DD’s posts…

SuperAngel has some very well-written Bible verse/story posts, and
Jocelyn

has some wonderful ones on HomeKeeping.

Hear, O Yisra’ĕl: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one!
and you are to love YHVH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding, and with all your strength.' 6 These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart; 7 and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
{Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Mark 12:28-30}

Welcome

Welcome to my online home, Walking Therein. I am a 40-something wife and Momma, trying to walk therein, squeezing in moments of Scripture reading, praise and worship and just quiet between the breastfeeding, child training, cooking, cleaning, child training, laundry, home school, child training, online ministries, and spending individual moments with hubby, adult children, Middles, Littles, and the infant.
Tis the life the Father gave me, and I am blessed to walk in it.
Did I mention the child training?

"Who am I? Nobody special; just a flawed wife and mom, daughter, sister, and friend chosen by YHVH to follow and tell about him."

I am a Believer in the one true God and the Messiah, his Son, whose name is Yehoshua. We keep his commandments because that is what his people do.
"...God's people, those who observe his commands and exercise Yehoshua's faithfulness."
Revelation 12, 14, 22
