Friends have been asking me for days if things are ok here, and as much as I want to send out a resounding YES!! well, I can’t. Things are not all right. My heart is in a million pieces as are all of ours. While I cannot share the details of what our family is experiencing right now, I will tell you that with how things have been handled, things are not ok. They are not in order, so that has added confusion and hurt feelings and lack of discernment and understanding in the situations we are facing. I just want to ask you to pray for us all. It’s not that I don’t want to share all the gory details[READ: bare my soul - share MY issues], though I hope I never have to, I just love my children, and I am praying we can all come to Yah in all of this and be right where he has for us at this time in our lives. At this time, we are not in agreement on it, and we all have a lot of growing, loving, praying and repenting – forming to his will – to do. Each of us do.

Please know how terribly much we appreciate all the love and prayer covering here in our home. We are so blessed by the friends who are not talking or advising, but just praying and directing us to Him. Thank you. This is our goal, to be closer to Him. When I fall, as I do very often, and daily, sometimes minute-ly, my goal is always to seek him and his ways and to walk in them as best as I am able. I am learning so many things. I am learning so many things I don’t want to learn. Being broken hurts. It hurts worse than a physical breaking. – But sometimes we must be broken to hear and see HIS way. To see our sins and to repent. Thanks for your prayers friends. Yah is working, and I am thankful.

We can all rest assured that the learning and the breaking never stops when you follow Yah. He commands us to be perfect and set apart for him – to keep striving to be – and we will never get to be without all the breaking and carving up our sinfulness. Oh, does it hurt though!

We know we really have to go through this. This is what is necessary for us at this time in our lives. We may not like it, we may lash out, but he is our refuge and our hope, and without him and his Torah to lead us and make clear the narrow path, we are lost in our own ways.

Passover is soon going to be here. We are preparing as best we can with all of this and our moving. Our friends from Consider His Ways came down and shared a beautiful Spring day with us on Tuesday. They have sent their devotional on Passover-Pesach, and I can’t wait to read it all together so we can begin to prepare our hearts for this time. I find it amazing how our lives, at this time, are lining up with Israel in Egypt and their exodus as well as the Messiah’s time as he prepared to go and have his life broken for us on the cross. This is truly a time Yah has set for our family – all of us – and I know he is working it into each of our lives for his glory and plans.

The garage sales have gone ok. We are looking at taking all the rest to a place and just donate it all. I have the name of a home school consignment shop to call tomorrow, and we are hoping we will be able to do that with a few things.

They took the swingset today. Enough said.

Our children are handling things remarkably well with all we are selling. Even better than Mom is, I think. Whoever said that children are resilient is right. Most things, they are resilient to and will learn to live around, survive on and go on to trust us as their parents and learn to trust in Yah. I am thankful for that, as this is the hardest thing we have ever been called to do.

Samuel is getting so big! He is reaching out for things and loves to sit in the little exersaucer. Such a big little guy! All smiley, looking up and around… it is so fun and so joyful to watch him and love on him, but so sad too, at this moment.

Would a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Though they forget, I never forget you. “See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are always before Me. Yeshayahu (Isaiah)49:15-16

Thankful for all of the blessings in my life. You know, we are called to be joyful, even when our hearts are breaking. I have learned more and more through the years what this means. We are his people. He does have us in the palm of his hand. I was left a note and the above graphic on my YahSpace Wall a few weeks ago, not knowing how desperately I would need to cling to it just now today.

I just want to tell each of my daughters the same thing: He has you inscribed on the palm of his hand. And you are all inscribed in the depths of my heart.

Shalom my friends. May his peace – the peace that calms our hearts in the storm and keeps us in him even when it looks like he is not in control or not even hearing us- may that peace be in your hearts and homes forever.

Isaiah 55
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways,” says ADONAI. 9 “As high as the sky is above the earth are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For just as rain and snow fall from the sky and do not return there, but water the earth, causing it to bud and produce, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater; 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth – it will not return to me unfulfilled; but it will accomplish what I intend, and cause to succeed what I sent it to do.” 12 Yes, you will go out with joy, you will be led forth in peace. As you come, the mountains and hills will burst out into song, and all the trees in the countryside will clap their hands. 13 Cypresses will grow in place of thorns, myrtles will grow instead of briars. This will bring fame to ADONAI as an eternal, imperishable sign.

For his ways are higher than our ways…

We know this verse. If we know him, we know his ways are so much greater than our own. We are mere humans in the face of the almighty Elohim – God – YHVH. We know this in our heads. We know that he has a plan for each of us. We know that he has a plan for our salvation and the salvation of those around us. We can know what is his desire from what he tells us in Scripture.

We would say his desires are also our desires. Then one day we are faced with something we do not recognize as his ways. We are faced with dying to our self. Dying to our self is usually when his ways become apparent. When we are faced with something in Scripture that we like to do or that is just ‘our personality’ or even something that makes us appear to be or feel important and what Scripture tells us about it is contrary to our own desire is where the rubber meets the road. Will we adhere to the truth of Scripture? Will we be able to recognize his ways? Will we go on cliches and partial verses we have heard or will we know what his word is? Do we know his Scripture well enough to know his ways or will we violate his words?

We know the blessings, but do we know what obedience will give those blessings? Do we really know his words?

Deuteronomy 28
1 “If you listen closely to what ADONAI your God says, observing and obeying all his mitzvot which I am giving you today, ADONAI your God will raise you high above all the nations on earth; 2 and all the following blessings will be yours in abundance -if you will do what ADONAI your God says:…
3-13 {These things will happen} if you will listen to, observe and obey the mitzvot of ADONAI your God 14 and not turn away from any of the words I am ordering you today, neither to the right nor to the left, to follow after other gods and serve them. 15 “But if you refuse to pay attention to what ADONAI your God says, and do not observe and obey all his mitzvot and regulations which I am giving you today, then all the following curses will be yours in abundance….

When a trial comes into our life and we are faced with something we do not want to do or something that seems too hard to bear, will we recognize his hand in it? Will we fight against it in our hearts? Will we recognize it as it aligns with the personality of YHVH and Scriptures or will we be out of touch because we do not know his words?

Sometimes what is just ‘his ways’ become trials because we do not recognize them. They come up against our ways and we do not recognize them as his way versus our way. Then it becomes a trial to our flesh. That situation may turn into hurt or even disobedience if we choose not to obey. Perhaps it becomes a bitter trial and leaves a bad taste in our mouths because we do not discern a situation as his way.

It is imperative that we know Scripture and are able to recognize his hand. As time passes, it becomes more imperative to know the Scriptures and if something truly is of his hand. Certainly all things that happen, whether of his hand or not are allowed by him into our lives and will be worked for a benefit because of his great love for us.

11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth – it will not return to me unfulfilled; but it will accomplish what I intend, and cause to succeed what I sent it to do.”

If we will recognize things that are his ways and are not determined to have it our way, then we will go out with joy and be led forth with peace. When we walk rightly in his words in what seems to be working against us, his glory will be shown. We will have given in to his words and his will and will have conquered the flesh that so desperately desires to be its own person, its own boss.

This will bring fame to ADONAI as an eternal, imperishable sign.

I have always hated that phrase “God has such a sense of humour”. I don’t believe he does anything just for fun; I believe all he does has a purpose. Though I know he delights in his creation and people, and I know he does things in ways that tickle us and give us joy or turn out in a way that is unexpected to us, I don’t believe that our definition of fun would match his purpose in delighting. I believe it is all for a purpose, even when the enemy, satan, or human beings work things in a way that they expect evil or problems.

Psalm 66
16 Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for me. 17 I cried out to him with my mouth, his praise was on my tongue. 18 Had I cherished evil thoughts, Adonai would not have listened. 19 But in fact, (Yahveh)God did listen; he paid attention to my prayer. 20 Blessed be (Yahveh)God, who did not reject my prayer or turn his grace away from me.

I found out last night the feeling of the “sense of humour” of our great Elohim. As you know, we have had issues in the past few years with people who have issues with our family, online and IRL. What can I say? We have always been a controversial family in Believers’ circles. We don’t adhere to church doctrines that do not line up with Scripture, we continually seek Scriptures, and when we find we are wrong, we do our best to seek and pray and change whatever it takes to what we need to do to live the Scriptures and not just make excuses. I know many Believers who do this also, but many more who do not. Those who do not make life hard for those who do. They call them legalists, hypocrites, false prophets, wolves in sheep’s clothing and other niceties that we just let roll off of our backs anymore. Anyway, our not doing things because they are wrong is offensive to many who claim to be Christians, etc. etc.

I truly have forgiven people who have and still are tormenting our family and me specifically, and I desire a reconciliation with these people. As soon as there are no hoops to jump through, I believe that will be a possibility. I am praying that is soon. In the past few days, we have invited some old friends over to say some good-byes to their families as we plan to leave in the near future and don’t want to not get to do that. In the course of thinking about this, I thought how nice it would be to make all the amends needed with other families. I am still praying for this.

Then, last night, I received and email that made me laugh out loud and chuckle for a good time afterward.

Jocelyn has received two packages in the past several weeks that have her name, our address, and no info with them. We do get items from all over the world frequently, so the only thing that was weird about that was that it had no explanation with it. One was a book about fairies that we obviously will not read, and I thought she threw into the burn trash; the other was a pair of tennis shoes that were two sizes too big, but fit Rachel and me. It was weird.

James 5
15 The prayer offered with trust will heal the one who is ill – the Lord will restore his health; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, openly acknowledge your sins to one another, and pray for each other, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Fast-forward to last night. I received an email titled, “Ladies Gym Shoes”. It was from an email that I recognized the name, and knew it had to be a fluke that the name was the same as someone who is no longer speaking to our family. No. It was from her husband. Seems that there was an error on their Ebay account, and it kicked our address up to the seller from a time they had shipped something to Jocelyn, in her name. They requested we send them their shoes.

I roared.

Not at their misfortune, but at how this had worked into our lives. I had just prayed the day before about and for this family. What are the chances? I mean really.

Was this evidence of a sense of humour of Yahweh? No, I don’t think so. I think this is his hand, definitely, but I think he will do all he has to do for his people to come to repentance and walk in his ways.

I do not know what will come of this. I emailed and told them I would be delighted to send them the shoes, and we need to figure out shipping. I may or may not hear back, but I am praising Yahweh today for his mighty hand. I am thanking him that he still hears me when I call upon him.

Proverbs 15
8 ADONAI detests the sacrifices of the wicked but delights in the prayers of the upright. 9 ADONAI detests the way of the wicked but loves anyone who pursues righteousness.

I am thankful and believing that his higher ways will win in our lives. May he be praised and blessed forever!

EDIT: Praising Yahveh that I heard back from them, and I will be sending them the shoes this week.

I thought about naming this “The Christmas Shoes”, but that would be my sense of humour…

be blessed today and Shabbat Shalom~

With the way America as a nation has been going for the past twenty, well, ok, fifty, years, it is no wonder that organizations and websites have turned up the calling for an awakening of this country to its Godly heritage.

I do believe a lot needs to change in this nation, and it must start with Believers, but I believe we are going about it all wrong. In addition to that, I believe we do not understand that the End Times must come. They must. It is already a plan in action, and there will come a time (and I believe we are in it) that we must watch the evil take over. It is all prophesied and must happen in order for all other things that must take place before Yeshua returns to Mount Tziyon with his people to happen. It is not something we can stay the hand of Yahweh in. It must happen. What we must do is to pray and seek what our place is in it and how will we live through it. (Matt. 24)

I do not believe we should focus on praying our nation out of its present state. Please do not misunderstand me here. I do believe we should continue to pray for our nation. I believe we should pray for every nation. I believe we should pray for leaders, Believers, unbelievers… I believe prayer changes things. However, there are some important factors that the Christian faith leaves out when we quote verses like a favourite of mine.

2 Chronicles 7:13-14
“13 If I shut up the sky, so that there is no rain; or if I order locusts to devour the land; or if I send an epidemic of sickness among my people; 14 then, if my people, who bear my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face and turn from their evil ways, I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land.”

As Christians, we think we have been taught all we need to know to be his people. Have you ever questioned, Who are those who “bear his name” according to the Scriptures? Many, many people today call themselves Christians. Do they all “bear his name”? What sets them apart to him? The way they talk? They way they look? Because they once prayed a prayer, asking for Jesus to live in their hearts? Remember, this is Yahweh talking here, not Jesus. We are talking about HIS name.

What are the “evil ways”?Is it what we do? What we say? What we wear? Is it the music we listen to or the movies we watch? Is it breaking one of the Ten Commandments or are we missing something there? We have got to understand this. There are SO MANY definitions of “evil ways” in Christianity today, how do we know what that means? How do we know who “bears his name” and is a true follower?

How do we know what anything Yahweh-God describes means?? How?

The answer to that is simple: By looking at HIS OWN WORDS. We cannot live by the social-relativism and rules and definitions of today. Not even those in the local Christian churches! There are too many variations! We absolutely MUST look at the Scriptures. And I do mean the Old Testament Scriptures that precede Yeshua-Jesus. Why? Do I believe the New Testament isn’t good enough? No. We must look at the Old Testament, what Yeshua-Jesus called the Tanakh, because THOSE are the ones he followed and set his holy and set apart living by. He said to do as HE DID, so we must look at the commandments he set his life by and walked in.

By reading the passages of Scripture below, we read as Yahweh speaks to his people, over and over, he says this in one form or another:

“‘But if you will (not) listen to me and obey all these mitzvot(commandments), 15 if you (loathe) my regulations and (reject) my rulings, in order (not) to obey all my mitzvot(commandments) but cancel my covenant(by not obeying the commandments);

Deuteronomy 6 says:

1 “Now this is the mitzvah(commandment), the laws and rulings which ADONAI your God ordered me to teach you for you to obey in the land you are crossing over to possess, 2 so that you will fear ADONAI your God and observe all his regulations and mitzvot that I am giving you – you, your child and your grandchild - as long as you live, and so that you will have long life. 3 Therefore listen, Isra’el, and take care to obey, so that things will go well with you, and so that you will increase greatly…”

Notice we are talking about what Yahweh-God said about HIS commandments. Notice he said ALL. Because of this, we can find the answers to our questions:

Those who bear his name: Those who follow all of YAHWEH’s commands.
Note that there is a difference between the commandments given in the Tanakh-Old Testament and those given in the New. The ones in the NT are incomplete. Yeshua explained the essence of the commandments, but did not address each and every commandment. Those he spoke of are all commanded in the OT, so they must be looked at in the light of their foundational commandments, given by Yahweh.

Evil ways: Those things which go against the commandments given by Yahweh-God, the One True God.
This must include all of the commandments, because if we just pick out our Ten favourite ones we follow, then we get into the issues and discussions of the social-relativism of today: When does life begin? Does marriage REALLY mean a man and a woman? Does Twilight go against Scripture? And on and on. We must go back to the Scriptures Yeshua is speaking of when he quotes them and tells us to walk in them.

When we apply this to the 2 Chronicles verse, it becomes a very different people he is speaking to than just those who attend a regular Sunday service and pray and abstain from certain things in their walk. Look at it again, with the definitions of Those who bear My Name and “evil ways” properly defined:

2 Chronicles 7:13-14
“13 If I shut up the sky, so that there is no rain; or if I order locusts to devour the land; or if I send an epidemic of sickness among my people; 14 then, if my people, Those who follow all of YAHWEH’s commands, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face and turn from Those things which go against the commandments given by Yahweh-God, the One True God, I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land.”

THIS is a much narrower definition of what a True Follower is. This is not the wide path that many will go through. This definition is a narrow path, only followed by very few who claim to know Yahweh. The question we must ask as Christians is this: Are we on this path or the wide one?

Let’s walk in the narrow path of Yeshua, the Messiah, who walked in the Narrow and set apart ways of His Elohim, by following Torah commandments~

Shabbat Shalom my friends~
